About Us

Fire & Ice Irish Dance Company began in September of 2001 to give training and performing opportunities to both children and adults in Irish dancing. After 18 sucessful years, Fire & Ice Irish Dance Studio was opened in January of 2020 in order to provide a home to our performing companies and to offer beginning Irish dance lessons to our community.

Fire & Ice Irish Dance Companies are non-competitive Irish dance teams dedicated to the art of ensemble choreography and traditional Irish step dancing. Dancers are placed in teams and range in age from 5 through mature adults. Company dancers commit to training with their team from mid September to mid June and perform for the Seattle Irish Week Festival, local elementary schools, Northwest Folklife Festival and our annual benefit recital. Dancers require permission to register for a team.

Susan Walker, Director

Susan has been a dance teacher since 1976, choreographing and teaching dance routines to cheerleaders, drill teams and studio dancers. One evening in 1997 she discovered Riverdance on PBS while channel surfing. "I knew it was going to be a part of popular culture instantly and I wanted to learn how to do it to share it with others"

Susan joined a performing group in Seattle while teaching recreational students in the South Sound. After 4 years she left Seattle to provide similar performing opportunities for her students. Out of this, Fire & Ice Irish Dance Company was born in September of 2001. Susan has spent 25 years studying and teaching Irish Dance with the goal of making it accessible to everyone who wants to learn.

She has led Fire & Ice Irish Dance Company to 20 successful years of classes and performances and has studied Irish Dance at the University of Limerick for the last 14 summers.

Our Mission

Everyone deserves to fulfill their Riverdance fantasy or to try something new and unique, no matter their experience or skill level. Fire & Ice Irish Dance Studio exists to provide this opportunity to dancers of all ages in a non-competitive format.
