News and Notes for the Summer Solstice Meet
Parking and road construction are our biggest issues: Mission Street (street directly in front of Witter) is closed due to road construction.
Detour directions to Witter Aquatic Center: From I-90 take the Hamilton street exit and travel north-go one block past Mission Street to Indiana Street, turn right, travel a few blocks to the stop light at Perry Street. You can turn right on Perry Street and travel two to three blocks to Mission street-cross the road construction and park in the Mission Park parking lot. OR instead of turning on Perry street-go through the intersection cross the railroad tracks turn left and travel around the Avista building-turn right on UPRIVER Drive (go around the road closed sign)-travel 3 blocks until you reach Mission street-go over the road construction into the Witter Aquatic Center parking lot.

NOTE: There are approximately 100 parking spaces total for both lots. The Avista parking lot is strictly off limits to all Swim Meet participants on Friday. Please do not attempt to park in this lot. The Avista security guards have the meet director’s cell phone number and they call him every year when swim meet participants attempt to park in their lot. They give you about 30 minutes to get the cars moved or they are towed at the owner’s expense. On Friday, when the aquatic center and the adjacent park lots are full, families will have to park in the residential streets around the aquatic center. They will have to walk anywhere from one to six blocks. We have permission to park in the Avista dirt lot all day Saturday and Sunday.
Reminders: The 1500 freestyle, 400 free and 400 IM require positive check-in. Swimmers must also provide their own timers.
Volunteer Officials and timers: We always welcome help and assistance from our visiting teams. Officials can report to our Meet Director: Vicki Marsh and timers can sign up with our head timer during the warm period each day.
Weather: be sure to check the weather and pack appropriately. Right now the weather report says low 70’s, partly sunny with a 30% chance of rain over the weekend.
