2011 LC PNS Championship Meet Recap
After 4 days and 112 events of racing, Wave finished 6th of 40 teams present scoring 965 points at the 2011 PNS LC Championship meet. It took a lot of work on the part of the swimmers, and their families for this to happen, both leading up to the meet and during the meet itself.
We had some terrific results over the 4 days that reflected the efforts of the swimmers from the past few months of practice.
Some of the individual highlights:
· You have to start with Gabby Dang winning 7 of her 8 races (she finished 2nd in one race) and setting PNS records in 4 of them.
· Sage Speak winning the 200 breaststroke by a wide margin, and finishing 3rd in the 100 breaststroke
· Rachael Kurtz finishing 5th in the 50 free, 8th in the 100 free
· Nadia Medvinsky finishing 4th in the 200 breaststroke, 6th in the 100 breaststroke
· Keane Suen finishing 8th in the 200 fly

· Brandon Truong finishing 8th in the 100 breaststroke, and 8th in the 50 breaststroke
· Felicia Truong finishing 7th in the 100 breaststroke, and 6th in the 50 breaststroke

The other 566 points Wave scored as a team came from our relays. This is where the team concept comes in to play. We had a number of swimmers who only swam on relays- no individual races, but their contributions made a huge difference. In most cases, our relay swimmers split well under their best time in the event. So the coaches wanted to make sure to recognize our relay only swimmers:
· Julia Andersson
· Lauren Anglin
· Wing Yun Au
· Gunner Burn
· Allie Knerr
· Hamza Siddiqui
· Nina Slegaitis
· Gracie Speak
Thanks to all the swimmers and parents for getting their kids to the meet for the relays. There is quite a list of swimmers who did have individual races, but only came back down in the evening for their relay events. It clearly made a huge difference in our overall team score. The relays are HUGE!
You can see how much time some of the swimmers dropped including some relay only swimmers who earned the chance to lead off the relay (which gives them the chance at a personal best time) using the link below:
On a somewhat related note, I picked up 3 pairs of goggles and a boys solid black brief suit in our team area at the end of the meet. If you left any of these items at the meet please let Coach Erin know.
