PNS Long Course Championship Meet Recap
The 2014 PNS Long Course Championship Meet took place at the Aquatic Center in Federal Way this past week, starting on Wednesday, July 23 and finishing on Sunday, July 27. This was a long meet- 5 days of competition, but it meant a ton of opportunities for our Wave athletes.
All in all, we had 60 Wave athletes competing either individually or as part of one our many relay teams.
Overall as a team we had a very strong showing scoring almost 1300 team points, with athletes from all age groups contributing to our team total.
Our relays had a strong showing as well with not only our A relays scoring but some of our B relays as well.
It was so amazing to watch not only our top athletes compete, but to see all of our athletes come in and really put in their best effort and show us what they could do. Many of our relay only athletes swam best times- in some cases by several seconds on their relay leg which was awesome and eye opening for them.
*All times listed below are long course meters times- the competition was held in a 50 meter pool as opposed to a 25 yard pool such as Redmond or Juanita.
*Thursday-Sunday events were swum in the morning or prelims session with the fastest 16 advancing to swim in the finals session at night. The exceptions to this were the 10 and Under events and longer races such as the 400 IM and 400 Free which were only swum in the morning sessions.
*The place and time results listed below are only from athletes who finished in the top 16 which meant they scored team points. The times listed are from finals only- some of the athletes were faster in prelims, some in finals.
*Athletes who seeded into the Consolation or B finals from their morning swim could place no higher than 9th, even if their evening swim was faster than swimmers in the Big or A final- the top 8 seeds from the morning.
Wednesday
Our first day of competition with only the 800 and 1500 distance free events offered this day. No prelims/finals, just one chance to dive and race these longer events.
