Highlights by practice group…
Black
Black had 15 athletes compete in the meet over the weekend, and they did a great job racing, learning and having fun!
There were some outstanding races from Saamiya Vaswani, Ela Sakin, Molly Mayfield, Kunaal Kadam, Chloe Johnson, Kiana Dobre and Gavin Drazich. Indio Balog successfully completed three new 100 yard races! Ellen Feng, Kumail Mukadam, Navya Sainani all competed for the first time and did great!
White
The White group had another outstanding meet at the Very Scary Meet. There were 77 successful timed results by the White group swimmers with 65 best times. 8 swims that were within a half second to a hundredth of a second off their best time. The average time drop per race for the white group was 3.35 seconds. 84% of our swims were best times! I did not count DQ swims for these calculations as there was no official timed results to compare the original best time against.
Congratulations to Simone Boczar, Grady Dunn, Lena Duryee, Kyle Fontelera, Ella Johnson, Surabhi Koundinya, Anton Mazepa, Zoe Piepkorn, Rahul Purkayastha, and Johua Tang for qualifying for the Age Group Invite with a Gold time at the Very Scary Meet.
Congratulations Kyle Fontelera and Anton Mazepa for qualifying for the Pacific Northwest Swimming Championship Meet at the Very Scary Meet.
I wanted to highlight the top 10 biggest time improvements at the meet. Zoe Piepkorn dropped over 21 seconds in her 100 Fly! Ekansh Verma dropped almost 20 seconds in his 100 Breast and 12.4 seconds in this 100 IM! Kyle Fontelera dropped 11.7 seconds in his 100 IM and 10.2 seconds in his 100 Free! Kirsten Hau dropped 9.4 seconds in her 100 Fly! Chloe Lewis dropped 8.2 seconds in her 100 Back! Ella Johnson dropped 7.8 seconds in her 50 Fly! Rahul Purkayastha dropped 7.8 seconds in his 100 Free! Alexsandr Mkrtchyan dropped over 7 seconds in his 100 Breast!
I also wanted to give a big congratulations to our swimmers that tried a new event at this meet. Grady Dunn, Lena Duryee, Kyle Fontelera, Kirsten Hau, Ella Johnson, Chloe Lewis, Anton Mazepa, Zoe Piepkorn, and Johnua Tang all swam an event for the first time at the swim meet! Way to go white group!
Purple
We sure brought our purple power along to Wenatchee with us! All the kids had an awesome weekend in the pool. With some stand out time drops from Itai Ami ad taking over 36 seconds off his 200 free, Peter Hansen with over 25 seconds off his 200 IM, and Paolo Villanueva with just under 17 seconds off his 200 breaststroke. We also had more than a few people making new time cuts throughout the weekend, Allie Bai in particular with multiple new champs cuts! We had a great travel meet, way to go Purple!
Senior Prep
What a great weekend for Sr Prep in Wenatchee! Lots of very strong swims throughout the entire group. Artur Sobol lead the way with 10 second drops in the 500 Free and 200 Back, narrowly missing the Champs cut in the backstroke. Shea Skarda and Hailey Crawford raced next to each other in the 200 Breast, pushing each other to new Champs. Zoe Meyer was excellent this past weekend with a 19 second drop in the 200 Back, 11 second drop in the 200 Breast, and 5 second improvement in her 500 Freestyle. Both Owen Ledrick and Vidhi Mehrotra swam awesome 200 IMs, with Owen dropping 16 seconds and Vidhi dropping 29 seconds. In his 200 Free and 200 IM, Veico Lai improved by over 12 seconds in both swims, while Nikhil Kadam dropped over 16 seconds in the same events.
Senior
The Senior Group was represented by a small number of swimmers with big swims at the Very Scary Open. Ameya Madhugiri went 6 out of 6 lifetime bests and had a notable improvement in his Breaststroke. He dropped 4 seconds in the 100 Breast and another 4 seconds in the 200 Breast. Alexander Werth swam 5 out of 6 personal best times with a fantastic 8 seconds drop in the 200 Fly and went under 25 seconds in the 50 Free for the first time to get an AA time. Blake Nilsen also swam 5 lifetime bests with a standout 4 seconds drop in the 200 Back. Abagail Bisset had a double mission this weekend and swam 500 Free twice. Her standout swim was the 200 Back where she shaved 1.5 seconds off. Damien Bryant can’t complain after dropping 53 seconds in the 500 Free and another 20 seconds in the 200 Back. Alexander Claux dropped time in all his Freestyle events and he also had an outstanding 400IM dropping 9 seconds. Alexandru Popov had a solid meet swimming right at his times the whole weekend.
Senior Elite
The Senior Elite group had a great weekend of training. The kids had some recovery time heading into this meet and they took advantage of it with some great in season times. I am very happy with how the kids did and I am excited to see where there training goes over the next month heading into AGI's and then Champs Season.
Stand Out Swims:
Aidan Blackmon 200 Back breaking the 2 minute barrier with a 1:59 best time.
Aidan Greenmun 200 Breast with a 2 second drop
Alicja Misuida 400 IM with an 18 second time drop.
Great Job Senior Elite athletes and congrats to ALL the WAVE swimmers that swam in the meet.
