High School Boys Districts Recap

Wave had 24 swimmers compete at Divisionals this past weekend. All put forth amazing effort and were close to their best times. Several achieved new best times, and some qualified for finals. It is exciting to see the boys swimming so fast right now. Their performance this past weekend bodes incredibly well for what they will be able to achieve at our end of season meets in March.

Senior Epic

  • Fredrik Larsen (Lake Washington): Another great meet of fast swims for Fredrik. This time, he led the team to break the school record along with his teammates in 200 Medley Relay bringing home a bronze medal. He also finaled in the 200 IM and 100 Back, going less than a second off his personal best in the 200 IM achieved at KingCo. Besides that, he placed 8th in the 100 Back and was part of the 400 Free relay that won a bronze medal.
  • Tyler Kong (Lake Washington): Tyler has been swimming faster each weekend and went a best time (again!) in the 100 Breast, shaving another 0.05 seconds and getting even closer to the Sectionals cut. He also joined Fredrik in the 200 Medley Relay that broke the school record and brought home a bronze medal.
  • Owen Ledrick (Lake Washington): Owen has proved to be a versatile swimmer, picking a distance event (the 500 Free) at Districts besides the usual breaststroke. His strongest swim was the 100 Breast where he went 2 seconds off his best time. He looks to continue to perform well heading into our March Meets.
  • Blake Nilsen (Lake Washington): Blake competed very well last weekend and posted some great times. He was able to achieve a new personal best in the 200 Free and swam his fastest 100 Fly in the past year, going under 59 seconds again.
  • Jaiden Sreenivasan (Redmond) With an amazing recovery from last meet, Jaiden was all business at Districts. After a smooth 500 Free during prelims, he came back for finals seeded first and confirmed his placing by winning his first event ever at a High School Meet as a freshman! He also swam the 100 Back at finals and led the team to a 4th place in the 400 Free Relay.
  • Noah Sattari (Redmond): Not to be outdone by Fredrik and Tyler, Noah and his teammates did the same for Redmond in the 200 Medley Relay! Again, he had an amazing fly split in the relay helping the team to bring home a bronze medal. He also performed well in the 200 IM and 100 Fly. He is confident he can swim even faster at State this weekend.
  • Suhas Kannam (Redmond): Suhas posted strong swims and demonstrated great speed in both of his events, swimming right at his time in the 50 Free and going only a second off in the 100 Free. In the 400 Free relay, he joined Jaiden to score more points for Redmond, finishing 4th.
  • Alex Popov (Woodinville): Alex continued to show a strong 100 Breast with another solid swim. He qualified for finals again and this time went less than a second off his personal best. Besides that, Popov anchored the 200 Free Relay to a silver medal and swam the 200 IM!
