Senior Western Zones Meet Recap

Jay Pearson

Wave sent seven swimmers into the desert to face blistering California heat as well as about 1500 swimmers from the rest of the western United States. Our swimmers faced their challenges head on and came out the other side victorious. Everyone who competed left the meet with at least one best time, most of them with multiple. It was an incredibly fun week seeing our swimmers step up and race their absolute hardest. There were ups and downs but the smiles at the end more than made up for the tears and the heartbreak.

Highlights

Anouk Balog competed at her first Zones meet. She was all nerves in the beginning before swimming her 100 free. Once she dove into the pool and came out with a best time she was all smiles and confidence the rest ot the meet. Boston Borg was a man on a mission all week, a mission to achieve new best times. He succeeded masterfully, with 4 of 5 swims bing best times. He had an awesome meet and really put his all into every race. He has really taken to the 400 Free this summer and this meet would be no different as he dropped another 5 seconds from his time in Montana.

She stepped up and turned in a huge swim, dropping 34 seconds and breaking 19 minutes in the race for the first time. She would go on to have a great meet and finished her time off swimming a gutsy 800 Free that was right on her best time.
