November AGI Meet Recap

In the final regular season meet of Fall 2022, our swimmers with BB times and above got to race against WEST, Bellevue Club, Pro Club, and SSCD at Kamiak High School in Mukilteo. We got to open each day with Mixed Relays for the first time in a very long time and, as expected, Wave swimmers turned up big time with a lot of awesome races and big time swims!

Sport Team

We had three swimmers representing our Sport Team, all of whom participated on relays and churned out some excellent times!

  • Arya Bhatt from Purple had two best times, one of which was the 50 Free where he broke the :30 barrier for the first time, going 29.90! Congrats, Arya!
  • Max Malinovskyi from White had two best times, including a 7.15-second drop in his 100 IM where he shattered the 1:40 barrier!
  • Andy Nguyen from White had three best times, highlighted by his 6.96-second drop in the 100 Breast, where he finished 1st overall!

Senior Epic

Senior Epic came ready to swim fast and had a spectacular AGI meet with many strong swims and several best times!! Our group has been training extremely hard and the weekend was a good parameter to see where we are in our last meet before Champs. Enjoy some highlights from our group:

  • Anouk Balog was very happy with her improvement in the 100 Breast where she dropped 3.65 seconds!
  • Kyler Brumfield had strong swims in all her events, but her Backstroke is definitely shining and she managed to swim right at her times in the 100 and 200 Back!
  • Jenna Kimborowicz was able to swim very well in the 100 Back and also drop time in the 200 Breasts after competing in her 4th weekend in a row due to a busy HS Season!
  • Lola Reynolds was also in her 4th weekend of swim meets and shifted her focus to work on her skills during the races. She did a great job working on her underwater dolphin kicks in the 200 Back, going only a second off her best time!
  • Raymond Chen swam one day only at the meet and had a great 200 Fly dropping 1.40 seconds while holding a strong technique!
  • Tyler Kong had solid time drops in both 200 Breast (-2.65 seconds) and 400 IM (-3.23 seconds). He also achieved a new PNS Senior Champs cut in the 200 Breast!
  • Fredrik Larsen has been crushing his freestyle sets at practice and showed an excellent strategy in the 200 Free where he dropped almost 2 seconds going under 1:45 for the first time (1.44.99)!
  • Owen Ledrick swam well in all his free and breast events and dropped 1.78 seconds in the 50 Breast, almost breaking the 30-second barrier!
  • Alex Popov went 5 out of 6 best times and crushed the breaststroke sprint events. With excellent technique, he dropped almost 2 full seconds in the 100 Breast and broke the 1:00 barrier for the first time in his life (59.96)!
  • Aadhav Saravanan was focused on the IM events and swam best times in both 200 and 400 IM. He dropped 2.29 seconds in the former and 5.96 seconds in the latter, getting close to the Zones cut!
  • Noah Sattari dropped time again in the 100 Breast shaving off another half second. This is the third meet in a row that he achieved a best time in this event!
  • Jaiden Sreenivasan not only recovered from being sick a week before the meet but went three best times during the weekend! His outstanding swim was the 400 IM where he dropped 0.35 seconds swimming with a solid technique in all four strokes!
  • Alexander Werth dropped time in the 100 Fly and had a fast swim in the 200 Free swimming strong through the very last stroke!

Great job to all Epic swimmers at the meet. Let's keep up the good work and get ready to crush our goals at Champs in December!

Senior 1

The Senior 1 group sent 12 swimmers to the AGI Meet. Senior 1 has been training incredibly hard on increasing our speed and working on race pace. The work they put in really showed in their racing. Everyone stepped up and swam very well, resulting in tons of time drops across the board. It was awesome seeing them race with such tenacity and seeing the smiles on their faces after huge drops!

  • Nik Brusilovski has been training very well and it really is showing in his races as he dropped time in all but one race over the weekend. His best swim came in the 500 Free: just before the race he was not feeling well and was unsure how it would go, but he dove in and swam a fabulous race, crushing his old best time by 4 seconds!
  • Rik Brusilovski did not want to be outdone by his brother and dropped time in all his races, earning solid drops of at least half a second each time he dove in. His best swim of the meet was in the 100 Breast where he got some redemption from a DQ in the event earlier in the season dropping 3 seconds and breaking 1:10 for the first time!
  • Hailey Crawford came off three straight weekends of high school swimming postseason and she raced very well at her fourth meet in as many weeks. She was right at her best time in all her races. Her best swim of the meet was the 200 Free, which was just a tad slower than her lifetime best but she stayed aggressive throughout the entire race and turned in the fastest time for our group in the event!
  • Iris Huang suited up for her fourth meet in as many weeks as well. She stepped up and turned in some awesome swims, dropping time in three events. She had an awesome 100 Fly cutting off almost a full second, then turned around and had an equally awesome 100 Free, edging herself ever closer to breaking the 1:00 barrier in the event!
  • Aarohi Gandhi has been training hard this season and has been anxiously awaiting seeing some huge time drops. The big drop finally happened at the meet. She turned in a wonderful 200 freestyle, dropping 4 seconds in a well-split race and going under 2:20 for the first time. She is excited for taper season to see what she can do fully rested!
  • Henry Geitz puts in the work day in and day out at practice, resulting in a fantastic season so far. Even though he’d dropped in several events already prior to the meet, he’s clearly not done as he had another great meet going best times in four events. He had a huge 15-second drop in the 100 Fly where he was the only swimmer in the heat. His best race and biggest drop was the 400 IM where he dropped 22 seconds and achieved another Champs cut!
  • Peter Hansen has been patiently putting in solid training as he’s prepared for his breakthrough meet. This meet proved to be that time! He was all smiles all weekend as he turned in best time after best time; it was awesome to see all his work pay off. His best race of the weekend was his 200 IM where he crushed his old time, dropping 5 seconds and getting ever closer to the Champs cut in the event!
  • Aditi Kandiah had a fantastic meet. She has been working super hard and it really paid off in her races as she dropped time in three events and went her exact time in another. Her most exciting race was the 200 Free. She had a monster swim, dropping 7 seconds. It was a great race as she executed the race strategy very well and didn’t let herself fall off at any point during the swim!
  • Ethan Na has looked very good in the water recently, really showing his speed at practices. This paid off as he went best times in five races. He performed well in his sprint events, but his best race came in the 200 IM. He showed he is very capable of holding on during longer races on his way to dropping 3 seconds in the event and just missed going under 2:10 for the first time!
  • Vincent Ngo has been working his way back to where he was after a very busy fall prevented him from training as much as he would like. He had a solid meet being right off his best times in most of his events. He turned in great 50 Frees leading off a relay and in his individual event, going under 24 both times out and close to his best time. He is looking forward to getting back to intense training and finishing the year off strong!
  • Dylan Vu took the opportunity to swim some off events at this meet. He has been working hard on his breaststroke at practice and it really showed in his races. He had super strong swims in both the 100 and 200 Breast dropping 7 huge seconds in the 100 and another 5 seconds in the 200!
  • Rina Yuan was our final swimmer competing for the fourth time in four weeks. She had amazing drops in the 50 free three weeks in a row and could not be stopped from dropping once again at this meet. Her most exciting swim, however, was her 200 Free where she had a huge swim, dropping 2 seconds to go under 2:10 for the first time and getting ever closer to the Zones bonus cut in the event!

Senior Prep

Sr. Prep did very well at the with 173 successful swims where 113 were best times, which is 65% of all of our races. We had another 25 swims that were exactly at our best time or within 0.50 of our best time. The average time drop for all swims was 1.5 seconds per race! Considering everyone had already swum many of these races within the last month or two, these are some very impressive improvements. This average time drop includes anything we successfully swam and had swum before, so this average includes swims where swimmers added time. Excellent meet results!

Shout outs go to Bennett Geitz and Nora Herman as they both successfully swam the 400 IM for the first time. We had 18 new PNS cuts achieved at this meet! Another shout out to Cora Ledrick and Oleg Arlouski for getting their Regional cuts (AA times). Cora swam a 26.75 in the 50 Free, and Oleg swam a 5:15.49 in the 500 Free.
