Divisionals Meet Recap
Fall Divisionals
For most of our Wave swimmers, the Divisionals meet with Issaquah and EAST was their championship for the Fall season. Once again, our swimmers raced superbly, led by Sophia Gorveatt and Vien Pogue, both of whom earned A times and qualified to swim at PNS Champs. In addition, Vien won five gold medals to lead all Wave athletes! Aadhav Saravanan and Sophia followed with four golds apiece, while Olivia Liu, Vincent Ngo, and Kenshin Yokoyama all won three golds!
We also saw a boatload of new best times and new US Motivational Times. We had 54 swims with drops of 10+ seconds led by Greg Lee (an astonishing -56.17 in the 50 Back!), Arnold Tanto (-47.78 in the 100 IM), and Piper Weigand (-41.34 in the 100 IM). To top it off, Shayan Gavandi dropped an amazing 25.82 seconds in Finals in his 200 Breast from what he swam in Prelims!
Congratulations Wave swimmers on a superb Divisionals Champs meet!!

Senior 1
We had nine swimmers compete at Divisionals. It was an awesome first weekend of racing for us. Everyone showed up ready to step up and swim fast. Several swimmers made finals in at least one event and most in multiple events. Everyone left it all in the pool and turned in some blazing fast times. It was incredible to watch them compete and see all the hard work they have been putting in since September really pay off. With the success from this meet, I am very excited to see what the rest of the group can do at PNS Champs!
- Daniel Cho has been training very hard and it really showed as he dropped time in all his races and qualified for finals in all of them as well. He really showed how his breaststroke has improved by dropping 5 seconds in the 200 on Saturday then turning in a superb performance in the 100 Breast, dropping 2 seconds and winning the event.
- Aarohi Gandhi had a great weekend of swimming. She was right on her best times or dropped in all her races and made finals in five events. She had a killer swim in the 200 IM swimming right at her best time and making it into the A Final. Then in finals she dropped 1 second and went under 2:40 for the first time!
- Aditi Kandiah only swam on Saturday but made the most out of her swims, going a perfect 3-for-3 dropping time and making finals in everything she swam. In prelims of the 200 IM, she was right on her best time, then in finals she turned up the heat and turned in a huge 3-second drop, moving her up two places from prelims.
- Kyle Li has been working on his sprint speed at practice and that really stood out this weekend. He absolutely smashed his old times in the 50 Fly and the 50 and 100 Back as well as the 100 Free. His biggest drop of 6 seconds came in the 50 Fly on his way to absolutely destroying the competition in his finals heat.
- Vincent Ngo put on great displays of raw speed all weekend. He swam a super smooth 200 Free going a best time in the event as a warmup for his sprint races. He turned around and dominated the 50 Free and the 50 Back, winning both races by at least a body length.
- Joseph Nguyen was on fire all weekend turning in best time after best time. He had very exciting races in the 100 Fly where he dropped 3 seconds edging ever closer to breaking 1:00 in the event. He then turned around and blasted the 50 Free going 25 for the first time ever in the event.
- Sonny Nguyen was only able to compete on Saturday, but he made his single day worthwhile. He was right on his best times in all his races and swam a super clean and well split 200 IM. In finals of the 50 Breast, he showed his dominance on his way to winning his finals heat.
- Neha Phatak was all smiles all weekend as she had amazing swims and qualified for finals in several events. She has been working super hard and it really showed this weekend as she turned in four best times. Her most exciting race was the 100 Fly where she snuck into the A final then raced her heart out at finals, dropping 2 seconds and moving up a spot.
- Neil Rawal turned in a perfect performance, going best times in all his races. His biggest drop came in the 200 IM where he pushed himself throughout the entire race, improving by 4 seconds. He is eager to keep training and keep getting faster.
Senior Epic
Senior Epic had one swimmer compete in the meet. Aadhav Saravanan finished first in four events and dropped time in all but one. His training really showed as he executed his race strategies so well every time he dove in. He swam very smoothly and had even splits in all the races, but especially in his 200 Breast, Fly, and Back. He is eager to keep training so that he can keep crushing these events. It was super fun to watch him race on his way to achieving best times and several wins.

A few swims that the coaches were especially excited about:
- Adam Abdou 50 Free—first time swim but put in a super good effort and posted a nice first-time result.
- Quinn Braun 25 Back—she looked super in this swim and dropped almost ten seconds
- Yushi Chong 25 Breast—Yushi has really been working on her breast kick and has looked really good in practice
- Raihan Echevarria 25 Breast—he’s been doing a great job working on this stroke and it showed
- Mira Erdim 25 Fly—Mira had struggled with this stroke in the past, trying to get the rhythm and the arms down, but my gosh, she’s such a good kicker, which showed in this swim where she put things together and knocked the swim out of the park, finishing first in the event
- Madeline Godbout 50 Free—Madeline used improved breathing, kicking and body position to post a vastly improved time in this swim
- Roohi Indurkar 25 Free—Roohi used her length and strong kicking in this race which was fun to watch! As her dive continues to improve, this race and others will keep getting better
- Heim Jung 25 Free—Heim used his strong kick and better freestyle rhythm to break 20 seconds for the first time
- Owen Wilson: 25 Back—dude looked like a rocket ship for the first 18 yards, he’s a strong finish away from posting something spectacular in this race
- Kenshin Yokoyama 25 Breast—great rhythm in this swim, complementing his strong kick, Kenshin has done a great job in practice with his breast kick

White Group had a great short course divisional meet this last weekend, piling up some solid achievements: 62 swimmers at the meet dropped 670 seconds off personal best times in 189 events. We landed 75 events for the first time legally, we earned 27 new motivational times, and eight swimmers earned a first time on a new level: six Bs and two BBs! Congrats to all those who swam this weekend. Some swimmers had some even bigger wins:

100 IM-LEGAL:
- Be especially proud of legalizing an IMs-, there are 40+ ways to become an outlaw! ONES TO WATCH: these swimmers narrowly missed big motivational firsts this meet—they are often the most driven in the group!
- Della Govsheev dropped 1.5s off her 50 free (Sept) to land just 0.24s shy of her first B time!
- Derek Xu dropped another 1.35s off his 50 Breast to land just 0 .95s short of his first BB time!

Age Group Select
We had a fantastic meet with many excellent swims and new cuts. One swim really stood out for me and is proof that you do not need a best time to have a great swim. In Finals, Kyra Yuan started the final lap of her 100 Breast in fourth place but put on her game face to run one swimmer down, then finish perfectly in the final 5 yards to pace another swimmer to earn second in the B Final by 0.10! Another big shout out to Rachael Rose, who swam a flawless 50 Breast in Prelims, dropping 4.8 seconds, then came back in the B Final and dropped another 0.4 and won by two body lengths! Our Ironman Award goes to Andy Yang, who swam the 100 Breast B Final, then came back just three heats (less than 10 minutes!) later to earn the bronze medal in the 200 Back while our Ironwoman Award goes to Molly Mayfield, who swam finals in all six races, including a silver medal in the 200 Back.
