Senior 1
The Senior 1 Group had 20 swimmers compete at the Fall Divisionals Meet. It was an awesome weekend full of tons of fast swimming. It was a blast for me to watch the swimmers really put everything they had into all their races. Seeing how excited they were about the payoffs from all the hard work they have done this season was incredible. We had a bunch of best times, a bunch of first place finishes, and some new Champs qualifiers. I am very excited to see what this group can accomplish moving forward, I can’t wait to see even more fast swims from everyone.
- Quinn Anderson had a spectacular showing achieving best times in all of his races. He had a wild 100 Free where he even split the race (very hard to do), dropped 1.5 seconds, surged into the finish to take the win, and almost joined the 49-second club. He is excited to see where he goes from here.
- Bradley Barkans only competed on Sunday but made the absolute most out of it, going best times in all his races. He started the day off by crushing the 200 Free swimming strong all the way to the finish, dropping 2 seconds. He would cap the day off by sprinting to a new best time in the 50 Free.
- Tanvi Bathe turned in several strong swims and was right on her best or dropped in all her events. She got a best time in the 200 Free swimming strong throughout the race and picking up her pace to sprint it out and finish the race strong.
- Tanay Boda had a bit of a breakout meet as he achieved best times in all but one of his races. He showed off his sprint speed turning in solid drops in the 50 and 100 Free. Determined to not just excel in the short events he stepped up and swam a great 200 Free as well earning himself a one second drop.
- Kevin Flannery was a man on a mission. He started off crushing his best time in the 50 Fly. He then got himself hyped up for the 50 Breast which worked incredibly as he dropped 2 seconds, secured his Champs cut, and broke :30 for the first time. He wasn’t done there as he would follow up with a stellar 200 Breast dropping 9 seconds splitting the race very well.
- Ananiah Gashaw has been working hard on her short axis strokes and that work paid off at the meet. She had a solid 50 Breast dropping 1 second and showing good technique. She finishes it off by sprinting her way to a drop in the 50 Fly keeping her tempo up all the way to the wall.
- Nethaniah Gashaw was right on her best times all weekend. She has worked hard on her fly at practices and it showed in both her races. She was able to keep her tempo up and hold a good breathing pattern in both the 50 and 100 Fly where she was right at her best time.
- Abby Gong had a very good showing at the meet. She was right on her best or better in all her races. She has been working hard on her underwater dolphin kick and she implemented it very well in her races. She stepped up and swam a super strong 200 IM dropping 2 seconds executing the race strategy well and sprinting into the finish.
- Peter Hansen was on fire all weekend achieving new best times in all of his races. He showed off his improved speed as he swam primarily short distances. He has been working hard on feeling strong in the water and it really showed at the meet. He had a very exciting 100 Fly going out super-fast the first 50 and holding on the second 50 to break 1:00 for the first time.
- Penelope Hepkin had strong swims all weekend. She fancies herself a mid-distance swimmer but showed off that she has good sprint speed as well. She had an awesome 50 Breast, she had great tempo and glide and turned that into a half second drop. She had a great 100 Free, splitting well and getting very close to breaking 1:00.
- Aditi Kandiah was within one second of her best time in all her races. Her fly looked strong all weekend. She started it off going exactly her best time and finishing 2nd overall in the 50 Fly. She followed that up by swimming hard in the 100 and having a strong back half finishing 2nd overall.
- Kyle Li had a great meet. He was right on his best time in both the 50 back and 50 fly. He was super excited with his 100 Free. He has been stuck at the same time for quite a while in the event. He finally got his big break in the race as he powered through to a new best time going sub :55 for the first time.
- Joseph Nguyen swam well in all his races. He has been battling some illness but he made the most out of his races. He looked strong in the 100 Fly and held a good breathing pattern all the way to only his second ever sub 1:00 swim in the event.
- Neha Phatak looked strong in her races all weekend and was right at her best or better in all her events. She got off to a blistering start in the 200 IM, splitting very well the first two legs, she would hold on strong to the end of the race, going a best time in the process. She is ready to get back to work and keep improving.
- Rahul Purkayastha has stepped up his training since the last meet and it really showed. He turned in several strong swims. He had a great 200 Back utilizing his great underwater dolphin kicks to send him to a first place finish. He smashed the 50 Fly, dropping 2 seconds and going under 30 for the first time.
- Neil Rawal only swam on Sunday but made all his races count. He has been crushing the sprint breaststroke looking very smooth and strong. He used that to throw down a champs cut in the 50 Breast.
- Josh Rus was another member of the all the best times club. He took a great shot at his 200 Fly going out super-fast then just holding on until the finish resulting in a 7 second drop. He followed up by using the same strategy in the 100 Fly, taking it out incredibly fast and breaking 1:00 for the first time.
- Boris Shakhov competed hard and turned in some very strong swims. He had an awesome 50 Fly, he had an explosive start, great tempo, and raced hard all the way to the finish resulting in a half second drop.
- Gabe Traina really stepped up and swam well all weekend. Gabe put his all into every race and ended up winning all 6 of his events. He had an awesome swim in the 200 free sprinting hard to the finish to drop a second and qualify him for champs. He is excited to keep working hard on the race.
- Isabella Vasilescu looked super strong in all of her races and turned in several best times. She had great form and tempo in the 50 Fly resulting in a best time. She followed it up with a strong swim in the 100 Fly keeping her stroke steady and achieving a best time.

Great job to all Purple Group swimmers who swam at this meet! It was such a fun time to get to see the kids race let alone race against other teams!!
Black Group
As usual, I want to start by thanking the parents for as a group accomplishing the list of items below:
- >The kids arrived on time
- >They arrived with their E/H/L information written out on their arms
- >They wore their team suits and team caps (for those wearing caps)
- >For kids unable to make it to the meet, the parents communicated with the coaches via text and/or email
There were a couple exceptions, but they were a miniscule number. When these things happen for the group, it’s way less hectic for coaches and swimmers, allowing us to focus on what is happening in the pool. Saturday it was just me with the kids as Coach Misho was working on dominating his SAT that day. So having these things accomplished made a huge difference for everyone that day. Sunday with Coach Misho back on deck went pretty dang easy. So thank you all for being on time and coming to the meet prepared. It truly makes a difference for your swimmers!
In the pool, we had several terrific swims. As a coach, it was super fun to see the kids racing and using the skills they’ve been working on at practice over the past several weeks. There were a few kids whose effort and intensity in their races really stood out to us:
Aaradhya Bharadwaj, Neeva Goel, Ellie Hsu, Yeim Jung, Martin Li, Heidi Mensching and Aashay Rane all had races where they really put an awesome effort into the race. Not that the other swimmers didn’t, as we felt we had tons of great swims from the kids, but these were just exemplary.
We had a few swimmers legally complete their 100 IM for the first time (note this event was limited to 9-year-old swimmers): Feifan Gong, Vladislav Kalyuzhin, Yuna Ma, and Gabriel Steijn. Along those lines, Kaito Falk raced strong and broke 2:00 in the 100 IM for the first time. Congrats to each of them on this accomplishment!
The pentathlon format offered lots of opportunities for kids to successfully complete races they hadn’t done before:

- Molly Mayfield earned a new B time in her 200 Back where she dropped more than 9 seconds! She also had great swims in her 50 Fly, 50 Free, and 100 Free, all of which she dropped time in.
- Lainey Meyer dropped in every single race, including a giant 13 second drop in her 200 IM! She earned new B times in her 200 IM, 50 Back, and 50 Fly!
- Kumail Mukadam had an awesome 100 Breast where he dropped more than 3 seconds! He also had solid swims in the 100 Fly and 50 Free, both in which he came close to his best times.
- Roshni Padmanabhan had a great 100 Breast, where she dropped almost 2 seconds and earned a new B time!
- Karolina Pastusiak had an amazing 200 Back, where she dropped almost 10 seconds and earned a B time! She also improved in her 200 Free and came close to her best time in her other races.
- Sanvi Shrivastava had a great 100 Fly where she dropped almost 2 seconds and earned a new BB time. She also dropped time in her 50 and 100 Free!

White Group
We put our Thanksgiving feasts to work at this Divisionals meet, with plenty to show for it.
CERTIFIED CHAMPION
- David Rondel won the 9-yr-old boys Pentathlon and scored a Champs cut in his 50 Fly with 0.13s to spare! He now sits 10th fastest in the championship rankings…so far.
MOTIVATIONAL GRADS: first ever B times
- Flora-May Lawrence (50 Breast, 50 Back)
- Roohi Indurkar (50 Breast)
- Qiqi Cao (50 Breast)
- Eric Feng (50 Back)
- Bryan Wei (50 Back)
- Eric Zhou (50 Back)
MOST NEW Bs
- Ella Gao (50 Back, 50 Breast) - she’s an everything specialist now!
- Emma Lu (50 Fly, 100 IM) She has ALL B times now!
- Eva Kalicinski (50 Free, 50 Fly) Almost scored a first BB time in her 50 Breast but for a very small DQ. Now that she knows it’s possible, she’ll make it probable!
LOSS LEADERS: swimmers who dropped the most time
- Cut 25s+: Ishana Goela (-26s), Hayley Chou (-26s), Anika Thondamuthur (-30s)
- Cut 35s+: Ann Ding (-37s), Victor Shirshov (-37s)
- Cut 40s+: Aarush Kakkar (-42s), Katelyn Chen (-43s)
- Cut 45s+: Maggie Zhou (-45s), Ethan Ghiondea (-47s)
- Losingest Winner: Thomas Godbout (-60s) dropped time, every time, including -38s in his IM. He also landed just 0.5 from a first B time in his 50 Back, and he wants it.
FreeEE-FALLERS: the steepest improvements in the meet for White Group
- Our B-group Girl-power landed the most consistent ‘wins’ of the whole group: Duru Ussakli, Ishana Goela, Katelyn Chen, Asmi Sarkar, and Mishika JKK all dropped big every time they hit the water. They especially burned up the 50 Breast, where Ishana cut 13s, Katelyn cut 36s, and Mishikaa and Duru both landed ~1 second from a first B time!
- Emma Lu and Harper McDonnell both dropped steeply in the 50 Free, again, from their recent bests at the AGI just two weeks before. Emma cut 2.75s (almost a BB!) and Harper cut 1.6s (almost an A!) And they won’t be ‘almosts’ next time if they can dial in their dives…
- Aditeya Verma, in his 50 Back, dropped 4 seconds off his time from the AGI two weeks before.
- David Li landed THE steepest time drop in White group, cutting a whopping 14 seconds off his 50 Free in six weeks. He’s on fire, and not likely to reign it in any time soon.
