Wave 10&U Single Handedly Win MMSC Champs!
MMSC NCSSL Championships Meet Recap
Wave sent our two youngest groups to the final meet of the season…and they won the meet title for Wave with nothing more than 10&Unders and just two 11-year-olds! Our swimmers earned a tremendous amount of medals and ribbons for a phenomenal end to the 2024-25 season! We were lead by Ryan Hu, who won two races, and by Owen Yan, won earned new B times in all three of his races. Awesome job to all swimmers who represented Wave in Snohomish and contributed to this outstanding result!
Black Group
Congratulations to ALL Black Group on an excellent meet. The coaches had fun watching you race!
Congratulations to Bode Boone, Daniel Rondel, and Avyaan Wasuja on all earning B times in their 50 Breaststroke. For Bode and Avyaan this was their first-ever US Swimming Motivational Time. Great racing, all three of you!
A few things of note:
- Our families did mostly a great job of being on time and having their E/H/L information written down. These two things make a difference, thank you.
- Some of our Black Group families struggled with knowing or understanding that their swimmer was on a relay or when it would happen. Part of that falls on me, part of that falls on families. I’ll do what I can to better communicate that information to families the next time we have relay entries in a meet.
- We had a few swimmers miss their races, one of the few meets this has happened at this year. The coaches did our best to hunt kids down but it does fall on swimmers and their families to know their events and keep an eye on the scoreboard so you know what event, heat and lane are in the water racing. Hopefully a lesson learned for next meet.
Black A
- Vivaan Agarwal has been working hard at practices and his improvement definitely showed with outstanding races in all three of his swims, 100 Free, 50 Fly and 25 Breast.
- Bode Boone swam an awesome breaststroke race as mentioned above, and his 50 Back and 25 Free were also fun to watch, as was his Free Relay. Bode came to race!
- Sindy Liu swam hard and posted some really nice improvements in her 50 Fly and 25 Breast. She also anchored the A Medley Relay.
- Phoebe Priday had one of her best meets so far with her first 50 Breast, a huge time improvement in her 50 Free as well as in her 25 Back. She also swam a leg on the B Free Relay. We were excited to see the energy and effort she brought to her races!
- Katherine Wu had two solid first-time swims in the 100 IM and 50 Breast as well as an excellent race in her 25 Free.
Black B
- Victoria Chen had an amazing meet with three huge swims. It’s been fun watching her improve at practice.
- Andrew Kim has made some big strides recently and his meet results show the gains he’s made at practice. Excellent swims in his 100 free and 50 Back, plus a first-time swim in the 25 Breast. He also raced a leg of our C Free Relay.
- Charlotte Lamb had a great day with two first-time swims – 50 Breast, 25 Back – and a red-hot 25 Free to finish off the trio.
- Karina O had a fabulous day of racing! Wow! Three first-time races and all three were very well done including breaking the 1:00 mark in both her 50 Back and 50 Breast.
- Amy Yu had a wonderful day, and the coaches were very happy to see her race so well. She listens and works at practices so it’s fun to see that pay off for her.
White Group
White Group had an amazing end of the season meet. It is hard to believe how much everyone has improved. Enjoy these standout swims from some of our athletes.
White A
- Kaitlyn Spooner had an incredible meet. She won the 100 IM and was second in the 50 Free. She also dropped more than 13 seconds in her 50 Fly to get a new B time and earn 5th. She had 100% best times and is becoming a true leader.
- Isaac Yang had an amazing 100 IM. He dropped 8 seconds to achieve a new B time and win the event. He also placed 4th in his 50 Breast. All his races were best times.
- Bessie Jiang was crowned Queen of Butterfly when she took 1st in the 50 by dropping more than 7 seconds. She also dropped more than 7 seconds in her 100 Free and was 2nd in the 100 IM. She had 100% best times.
- Owen Yang had a perfect meet and dropped more than 28 seconds in his three races. Not only did he earn a new B time in every race, he was also in the top 3 in all his races. Congratulations.
- Miya Ma was on fire. She improved more than 25 seconds. She placed 2nd in the 100 Free, 3rd in the 100 IM, and 4th in the 50 Fly. She also made a new B time and had 100% best times.
White B
- Maya Esko had a great first meet. With no racing history, she was within 1 second of getting a B time in two of her races. I can't wait to see more from her.
- Artin Kainy is new to Wave and competitive swimming. Six weeks ago he didn't even know what a flip turn was. At the meet he raced with the passion of a swimmer with B times but just missed making one. I am certain that will change at the next meet. Great job.
- Sara Viswanathan had an impressive first meet. She has gone from trying to swim across the pool to trying to lead a lane in workout. Her first flip turn try in workout took about 25 seconds to complete. At this meet, it was 22 seconds faster. Congratulations and keep it up.
- Daniel Zhovtobriukh is new to Wave and has never competed. He performed perfectly and still has never been disqualified in competition ever. I hope this streak lasts forever.
- Aleksei Volkov showed his hard work when he dropped more than 13 seconds in his 100 IM. He is not only the first White B swimmer to win an award in competition, he is the first White B swimmer to place Top 6 in the 11-12 age group. Congratulations.
