Aili McJunkin Lead Coach - Purple Sport Group

Growing up I was around swimming or a pool practically all the time. My mom and her brother (coach Jay) were on Masters together when I was younger, so I was always at their practices or timing/running time sheets at meets. At a very young age I started swim lessons at Columbia athletics and later on transitioned over to WEST aquatics. Once I went through the lesson portion at WEST, I immediately went onto their year round swim team and stayed there for a few years before transferring to Golds gym aquatics, joining their year round swim team for a few more years.

Following my competitive swim career I became a Swim Aide, which is like a secondary swim lesson teacher and volunteered doing that at my local YMCA for a few years. Later on, I was hired on at the Northshore YMCA as a swim instructor and worked there with every age group from 3 years old up to middle aged adults. During my time at the NS YMCA, I moved up to being one of their head instructors, training new hires, and being 1 of 2 instructors who had the privilege to teach lessons to special needs kids.

Between all my swimming careers, I've managed to also be a cheerleader and have performed at an NBA Trailblazers game twice, beeen voted into to my High Schools homecoming royalty court, and be a WA state representative for a Global Teens program traveling to NYC for a United Nations summit and Japan for a peace study.

Robin McQuinn Lead Coach - White Sport Group

Robin has been in and around the water her whole life and finds swimming integral to her daily life as a raft guide, kayak instructor/guide, and diver.

Robin could swim almost before she could walk.   Starting at the age of six, she swam with five different swim teams, including private clubs, summer leagues, and high school clubs.  Through her swimming career, she had over 13 coaches - and as many coaching styles - taking her to All City and State Level Championship Competitions.   She is currently an avid open water swimmer, frequently falling out of sailboats, kayaks (in surf), rafts (in rapids) and canoes (intentionally).

Robin believes that swimming develops, in an athlete, a level of kinesthetic intelligence not achievable in any other sport.   Because water provides so much more resistance to movement than air, technique is so much more critical in the water.   The water knows where every bone, muscle, and hair is at every point in time.  The water often knows far better than the swimmer knows.   Our job as coaches is to bridge that gap, creating a self-awareness that gives an athlete a lifelong full-body coordination, grace and poise - or at least bragging rights that they can fly like a superhero.

Robin is a Level 2 ASCA coach, a WOWSA Open Water Coach, a US Masters Coach, an ACA Coastal Kayaking Instructor and a recovering geologist.

Mikayla Davis Assistant Coach - Purple Sport Group

Mikayla began her swimming journey at her local YMCA team in Spokane, WA where she swam for three years. She continued to swim competitively on Spokane Area Swim Team for another three years. While doing triathlons Mikayla worked as a lead guard and head swim coach of the Spokane Valley YMCA her senior year. With the background of swimming, triathlons, and coaching Mikayla is looking forward to being in the swimming atmosphere once again with Wave Aquatics!

Currently Mikayla is attending University of Washington pursuing a dual degree in Environmental Science and Political Science. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, swimming, gaming, and hanging out with her dog!
