Chad Winkle Head Coach - Sr Prep & AG1 Lead

Coach Chad is Wave's head coach and currently coaches the Senior Prep and Age Group 1 practice groups.

 

He started competitively swimming at 5 years old for his neighborhood swim team in Cincinnati and swam competitively all the way through high school. He swam for his middle school and high school teams while also competing for the Princeton Aquatic Club.  

Chad initial coaching experience was for the Sharonville Sharks summer team before taking a coaching position with his old club team, Princeton Aquatic Club as an assistant coach. Next he became a Head Age Group Coach for the Cincinnati Marlins North Satellite. After one full season as Age Group Coach, he was promoted to the Head Site Coach and spent the next few years coaching for the Marlins.  

After several years with the Marlins, he became the Head Coach for the Ketchikan Killer Whales Swim Club and spent three years coaching up in Alaska.  

 

He has spent the past 11 years with WAVE Aquatics, starting out as the Head Age Group Coach and moving into the Head Coach role 5 years ago.  Under Coach Chad the team has grown to over 500 athletes, and has continued to improve becoming one of the premier clubs in PNS and USAS.  

 

Chad has sent numerous athletes to the Zone Meet, Northwest Senior Sectionals, and Northwest Age Groups, as well as Top 10 qualifying times in the country. On a state level, he has kids win high point for their age group at LSC championship meets along with top qualifiers at various high school state champs.  

 

In his spare time, he enjoys running with his dog, The Rock and hanging out with his wonderful wife, Amy.  

Erin Dunn Assoc. Head Coach - Black Group Lead

Coach Erin handles many of the teams administrative duties as the Associate Head Coach, coaches the Black Groups and assists with the Senior Epic Group.

Erin grew up in southern California swimming on both high school and club teams. He attended The Ohio State University graduating with a degree in history and swam on the men’s team for three years. He had coached in the Seattle area for 12 years with Husky/Swim Seattle before joining Wave in Fall 2007. He also coached for seven years at Kennedy High School in Burien.

Erin is an ASCA level 3 coach. He has had several swimmers make nationally ranked times along with Junior National qualifiers, Senior Sectional qualifiers, PNS Champions, Zone and All Star Team qualifiers. Many of his swimmers have helped to rewrite the Wave All Time Top 16 Records.

Highlights of his coaching experience at Kennedy High School included consistently placing as a team in the Top 10 at state, two swimmers earned WIAA Swimmer of the Meet at the state meet, multiple state relay champions, and multiple Top 8 swimmers including several first place finishes. The team also set many school records under his leadership.

Erin always enjoys learning more about the sport of swimming and coaching. Over the years he has had the opportunity to attend conferences/clinics across the country where he has learned many innovative approaches to teaching swimmers how to move through the water effortlessly and efficiently. 

He enjoys hiking, climbing, snow skiing, reading, bike rides, skate boarding and of course spending time with his wife and two children.

Tatiana Lemos de Lima Head National Group Coach -Sr Epic Lead

Coach Tatiana is a former professional swimmer from Brazil and a two-time Olympian who represented her native country in the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Games (Athens and Beijing).

She has an extensive resume of major internationally recognized awards, such as eight medals in four editions of the Pan American Games (1999 Winnipeg, 2003 Santo Domingo, 2007 Rio de Janeiro, 2011 Guadalajara) and a total of 11 medals at the FINA World Cup between 1999 and 2012.

Tatiana also participated in numerous FINA World Championships where she advanced to the Finals (Top 8 in world) and broke the Brazilian national and South American records in the 100m freestyle and as part of the relays. She competed in the following FINA World Championships: 1997 Gothenburg, 1998 Perth, 1999 Hong Kong, 2000 Athens, 2002 Moscow, 2003 Barcelona, 2004 Indianapolis, 2009 Rome, 2010 Dubai, 2011 Shanghai, and 2012 Istanbul.

Between 1997 and 2011, she was crowned Brazilian National Champion several times in the 50m, 100m, and 200m Freestyle. In order to help boosting Olympic Sports in Brazil, she was elected as a member of Athlete’s Commission of Brazilian Olympic Committee (2013-2016), and was honored to be part of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games by carrying the Olympic Torch as part of the Torch Relay festivities. 

Tatiana retired from professional swimming in December 2013. Shortly after she was invited to join Coastal Aquatic Club in Myrtle Beach, SC, as an assistant coach in 2014. In her initial coaching experience she had the opportunity to work with all groups, from young kids to teenagers until she became Head Age Group Coach. Since then, she has been sharing her experience as an athlete in addition to her knowledge of her Bachelor degree in Physical Education (Catholic University of Brasilia, Brazil) to help swimmers develop both life and swimming skills while also stimulates their passion for the sport.

After 3 years living and coaching in South Carolina, Tatiana moved to the Evergreen State in order to join Wave Aquatics in 2017. She has been coaching the Senior Epic group for the past four years where she has helped many swimmers in the group to qualify for national level meets.  Tatiana lives in Bothell   and loves the opportunities to explore several outdoors activities and sports during summer and winter seasons. She trully enjoys the state of WA and the Pacific Northwest!

Kyle Kallin Head Senior Coach - Sr. 1 Lead

Coach Kyle began swimming with the Helena Lions Swim Team at the age of 10 and continued on through the program until graduating high school. He then went on to attend college at the University of Washington and studied Mathematics. After graduation he returned to his home town to coach for the team he grew up with, becoming the head coach in 2016. In his time as a coach he has crowned countless State Champions as well as relay champions. In 2021 he led the boys High School team to a State title with only 7 swimmers competing at the State Meet. He has coached several Northwest Age Group qualifiers, Senior Sectionals qualifiers, Futures qualifiers, and Junior National qualifiers. For his efforts he was named as the head coach for the Montana Senior Zones LSC All Star team in 2018, Montana Swimming Coach of the year in 2019, and Head Age Group Zones coach in 2020 and 2021. He joined Wave in 2021 and has continued to successfully develop our senior swimmers.

Jay Pearson Head Age Group Coach - AG2 Lead

Coach Jay started swimming competitively for his local summer league team, the Kingsgate Royals, in 1967 when he was 5 years old, and eventually joined Totem Lake Swim Team when it formed in 1971. He swam for both teams through high school.

 

His coaching career began in 1984 with the Kingsgate Gators and led them from a Division 4 team to a Division 2 team in just four years. He joined the Northshore Swim Club staff as developmental coach in 1984 and was an original Wave coach when Northshore, Totem Lake, and Redmond merged in 1986. He was the Head Age Group Coach for several years before retiring from coaching in the late 1990s. During this time, he also coached at both Bothell and Juanita High Schools. He coached two national age group champions, many PNS and Regionals champions, and had multiple nationally ranked swimmers. He also coached high school All Americans and state champions. He was Kingco Coach of the Year twice and served as President of the Region XII Age Group Coaches. He is an ASCA Level 4 coach.

 

Jay returned to competitive swimming when Lake Washington Masters formed in 2007. His favorite stroke is breaststroke and his favorite distance is 50s. He returned to his first love, coaching kids, in 2017.

 

He and his wife Shelly and son live in Bothell. He enjoys cooking and video games, and has published two fantasy books.

Carlie Vasquez Sport Team Director - High School Lead

Coach Carlie has been coaching for more than 16 years. She has coached both swimming and synchronized swimming within those years. She has been a part of the coaching staff that helped get two athletes to the 2024 Paris Olympics for synchro. She has also had a number of swimmers qualify for national meets like Zones and Sectionals.  She is very proud to be a part of those athletes achievments. She has also been a part of training athletes for Special Olympics. 

 

Carlie started her swimming career as a child in Jacksonville, Florida. She swam competitively in Florida until she moved to Washington as a freshman in high school and continued here. She struggled balancing both academics and athletics in High School, but still qualified for regionals in the 100 fly. 

 

With the thought of not being able to fully engage herself in swimming during her high school career, she wanted to continue the love of swimming and give back as a coach in her adulthood. The passion is even stonger now. Now as director of the Sport teams, she can give back everything she has learned. 

 

She has a degree as an exercise specialist and uses that to help athletes train and undertstand their muscular systems better. Carlie also does aquatic rehab a few days a week helping a number of patients with different ailments ranging from strokes to kids on the spectrum, etc.

 

Outside of swimming, she loves to spend time with her 3 kids. They like to travel, hike all over the world, and experience new food locations.  

Erik Colwill Lead Coach - White Sport Group

Coach Erik started competitive swimming at the age of 7 in 1977 at Santa Clara Swim Club under George Hanes. By the age of 10, he was part of a national record relay and was nationally ranked in several events. He maintained this level of dedication and graduated high school in 1988 with the second fastest 100 breast time in high school swimming history. In Summer 1988, he broke the Jr. National record in the 200 Breast and qualified for Olympic Trials. He received a full scholarship to the University of Arkansas where he qualified for NCAA in the 100 Breast in 1989. He achieved Division 1 All-American by placing 10th in the 200 M.R at NCAA. He graduated with a BSBA

Coach Erik started competitive coaching at Santa Clara Swim Club in 1995. He worked his way from developing the lesson program to the lead age group coach through 2012. This included volunteering in the National group and going to the Olympic Trials to watch Tom Wilking make the Olympic Team and go on to medal. He was the first coach in Pacific swimming history to have a 12-year-old break :50 in the 100 free. He achieved ASCA Pacific Swimming age group coach of the year and is ASCA level 5. In 2012, he stopped coaching to start his own business. 

Erik enjoys his wife Erin's company and amazing cooking. He couldn't be prouder of his daughter Katrina for finishing her second year at UC Davis with a 3.9 GPA. He also enjoys long walks with his dog Bailey.

Jaedyn Hill Lead Coach - Purple Group

Coach Jaedyn is the Purple Group lead coach.

Her swim career started when her parents put her in swim lessons at age 4. Growing up in Phoenix, she quickly developed a love for swimming and joined a local YMCA team in Goodyear, Arizona. She continued her swimming career throughout her life, eventually reaching the NCAA Division 2 level at Minnesota State University. A 2025 graduate, she studied Elementary Education and is working toward her teaching license. 

 As a swimmer turned coach, her passion is creating an inclusive environment for her athletes that promotes unity, growth, and a love for swimming. She is a believer that a strong love for swimming is the foundation for a long and successful swimming career.

 

Maya Warnock Assistant Coach - Black Group

Coach Maya grew up in the Seattle area and was put in swim lessons at age 4 and started competing competitively at age 6. She was on Cascade Swim Club for 11 years before switching to another team. She went to the Junior Olympics at age 10 in San Jose and finished in the Top 10 in 500 Free, 200 Free, and 100 Fly. She loves butterfly and freestyle, mid distance and long distance. During high school, she began coaching for Shadow Seals Swim Club. After graduating high school, she went to University of Idaho and played water polo for the club team and was assistant coach for Pullman High School Girls Swimming. Since moving back to the Seattle area, she has been the head swim coach for her local summer swim league team, The Pop Mounger Penguins the last 3 years. She is currently in Graduate school at Seattle University going for her master’s in Elementary Education to earn a teaching license. She is also certified in Montessori education and has worked at a preschool. In her free time, she works as an afterschool enrichment teacher, specializing in Legos, loves superheroes, and especially loves to teach kids in every environment she’s in. She is so excited to work with the future age group she is hoping to teach. 

 
Alan Arevalo Assistant Coach - White Group

Coach Alan has been in the water since the age of 3 and began competing at 8. Growing up in Colombia, he quickly developed a passion for the sport before moving to Brazil at 11, where he trained with some of the country’s top clubs, including Flamengo, Fluminense, and Botafogo. During this time, he earned multiple national titles in the 100 Free and 100 Fly.

Known for his versatility, Coach Alan has trained across all four strokes and takes pride in having no “weak” one. He currently competes at the collegiate level while completing his final year at the University of Washington, where he is studying Biochemistry and preparing for a career in research.

As a coach, he is deeply passionate about swimming and loves encouraging athletes to improve, discover their strengths, and showcase their best skills in races. With his international background, competitive achievements, and enthusiasm for the sport, he is excited to inspire the next generation of swimmers.

Dan Deutermann Assistant Coach - White Group

Dan relocated in 2024 to Kirkland from Alexandria, Va. with my family and am glad to be living in the PNW. He retired from the military in 2011 having served in both the U.S. Navy and U.S Coast Guard primarily as a Search and Rescue helicopter pilot, so he has a strong appreciation for the value of being a strong swimmer! He participated on competitive teams as a kid and is pleased to be involved the team sport again. His career required extensive water survival training and afforded me teaching experiences where he could help individuals boost their confidence in the water and improve their swimming skills.

Valerie Green Assistant Coach - Purple Group

Hi, I’m Valerie Green, and I’m from Nicaragua. I started swimming at the age of four with the ANS Tigers before I moved to Washington. I swam all the way through high school. My favorite events are the 50 Free and 200 Back. Outside of swimming, I love to read and spend time working on craft projects. I’m really looking forward to what’s ahead! My goal is to ensure that we all enjoy the process, support one another, and learn new things along the way.

Julien Yung Assistant Coach - High School

Coach Julien is a former Division 1 swimmer at the University of Saint Thomas, where he specialized in distance freestyle and individual medley events. Swimming since 2007, he developed skills with the Lake Superior Swim Club in Duluth, Minnesota, and holds multiple records for Duluth East High School in northern Minnesota. At the University of Saint Thomas, he scored points in the Summit League Conference, earned Rookie of the Year honors, and served as captain for the 2023-2024 season. He has 10 years of swim instructor and coaching experience with all age groups.

Julien values technique and form at the highest level, believing they are crucial for success in swimming, but also loves to have fun at practices and competitions! He is excited to share his experience and passion of swimming with others!

Mikayla Davis Assistant Coach - AG1 & Sr Prep
Coach Mikayla started swimming at her local YMCA in Spokane. She got into competitive swimming while on Spokane Area Swimming for three years and specialized in Breastroke and Long-Distance. Later in High School, she leaned into the long distance and competed in Triathlons including the 2018 and 2019 Nationals where she qualified for the 2019 and 2020 Triathlon Worlds. 
 
She has been with Wave since 2021, transitioning from assistant coach to lead coach after graduating from UW as well as moving from Sport group to Select in 2025. She’s excited to continue coaching on a competitive level that emphasizes speed, fun, and teamwork. 
 
In her free time, she enjoys yoga, gaming, and hanging out with her dog.
Molly Kok Assistant Coach - AG2

Coach Molly began swimming at age six for the Shoreline Gators swim  team and swam up until high school. Their coaching experience began in  2023 as an assistant coach for Gold’s summer league swim team.

Before working in aquatics, they volunteered and worked for Seattle  School District as a tutor/assistant. This experience kick-started  their passion for teaching and working with kids.

They are currently helping out with the Lake Washington Masters swim  team as an assistant coach, as well as working with AG2. They are  excited to help make swim team both a place to have fun and a place to  be challenged and learn new things, as well as be a part of this  community.

Some of their hobbies include reading, writing, and art. Their  favorite events are the 100 free and 500 free.

Denise Lindberg Assistant Coach - Sr Prep & AG1
Before moving to Washington in 2012, Coach Denise spent all of her life in California. She grew up in South Lake Tahoe, CA, where she spent the winter in skis and the summer in a swimsuit.  She joined her first swim team at age 4 because she was determined to do whatever her big brother did. She continued swimming all the way through college, where she swam for the UC San Diego Tritons.  At UCSD, Denise went on to earn All-American status all four years, including her senior year when she was the Division II National Champion in the 200 IM. That year she was also named one of UCSD's Athletes of the Year and awarded an NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship. 
 
Denise has enjoyed coaching swimming since high school, when she began coaching the under 10 age group on her local club team. She later spent several years coaching Masters Swimming in both San Diego and Santa Barbara, as well as offering private clinics for swimmers and triathletes. As a coach, Denise thinks that swimming should always be fun, often be challenging, and consistently be about learning life skills like overcoming obstacles, practicing good sportsmanship, and working as a team. When she's not on the pool deck, Denise enjoys hiking, skiing, or doing just about anything outside with her husband Eric and their two kids.
