This is your River Falls Swim News for January 9th!
Great job this weekend at Farmington to our swimmers who attended!
Just a few quick notes for this week, the biggest things are to go out to the Team Event page of the website and sign up for any of the upcoming swim meets we have over the next several weeks!
No Practice Tuesday January 11th- Home High School Meet
Friday Janaury 14th- RFHS Basketball Game. Please enter through the North Commons Doors with your event passes.
Lost and Found: We have started to amass quite the stockpile of clothes, towels, caps, goggles, and water bottles that swimmers are leaving at the pool. We are going to lay everything out on the table by the pool doors through this week, please stop down and claim anything that belongs to you. At the end of the week, anything not claimed will be donated to a local collection site.
Locker room etiquette: There have been several instances of kids throwing swim suits into the toilets in the locker room, climbing on the lockers, and throwing wet wads of paper towels. Please have a conversation with you swimmers on what is acceptable to do in the locker room, and remind them that they should be using it to change quickly and then head out.
UPCOMING SWIM MEETS & EVENTS:
Monday January 17th, 6:30pm: RFSC Annual Meeting in RFHS Library and virtually! Our club annual meeting, we invite all families to attend and hear the update of the status of the club, our objectives heading into the new year, and an opportunity to field any suggestions or questions you have for the organization! We are also voting on two Board of Director positions this year, and everyone has a vote in the selection! Please plan to attend the meeting! Link to attend virtually will be sent out soon.
Sunday January 30th, Lifetime Plymouth: Meet Information and sign-up available on the Team Events page.
Friday February 11th, Red Wing Swim Club: Meet Information Coming Soon! Open to all levels of swimmers.
February 19-20: OMNI Invite, Oakdale MN. Meet Information Coming Soon! Open to all levels of swimmers.
February 26-27: RFSC Home Invite, River Falls MN. Meet sign-up available on the team event page! Open to all levels of swimmers. Volunteer sign-up coming soon!
March 4-6: Minnesota Regional Championship. Location TBD. Requires Silver Time Standards to compete.
March 11-13: State. U of M. Requires CHAMP times to compete.
MISC INFORMATION:
VOLUNTEERING: Mark your calendar for the RFSC Home Swim meet on February 26-27! This will be the main volunteering effort for the winter session! All families in Novice Transition and Above are required to complete at least two blocks of volunteering per session; this will be your only opportunity to complete those requirements. Developmental families are not required to volunteer, but we would love to have you help at the meet and see what the competition meets look like if you are interested in the next level for your swimmers! Volunteering information will be coming soon!

-Email Coach Michael if you want to set up a time to try the sizing kit in the pool office to verify you get the right size. Girls suits, the thick strap version and thin strap version fit and size differently, we only have the thick strap version of the suit as part of the sizing kit. If you decide you are going to order the thin strap suit, you will want to go one size larger than the suit you try on in the sizing kit.
-Swim suit purchases are a direct sale between the families and the vendor, they will ship the suits straight to your house after purchase. If there are issues with sizing, there is nothing that RFSC can do to assist you, you must reach out directly to the vendor to work on corrections.
River Falls Swim Club Board of Directors:
An exciting volunteer opportunity: we are seeking nominations for the RFSC board! Two of our board members’ terms expire in January, and we need new parents to join our Board! If you are interested in helping shape the future of the River Falls Swim Club and be more involved in club operations, please contact current board president Melissa Anderson at [email protected] with questions or to express interest. Selection of board members occur at the RFSC Annual Meeting in January.
