May 16th News & Summer Session Information!

Coach Michael Brudzinski

This is your River Falls Swim News for May 16th!

We have a lot of information this week, so please read through everything in the news!

This is the last week of our current session of developmental swim lessons! All developmental swimmers will receive a “report card” on either Wednesday or Thursday night this week. On that report card it will discuss all of the skills they worked on this session, and it will have a check mark in the box if they have the skill mastered to an acceptable level to be ready for the next level. If all of the boxes are checked you will see a note on the bottom that they are ready to sign up for the next level of lessons. If they have categories that still need improvement it will recommend that they repeat the same level for the next batch of lessons. Annalee and I are always available to discuss if you have any questions or concerns about anything. Please don’t hesitate to call or email if you would like to discuss anything.

It has been mentioned a couple of times now, but I will be deploying at the end of this summer as part of a peacekeeping mission to Djibouti in the Horn of Africa. This is the third time that RFSC has undergone a deployment from me, and we have the transition plan well in hand! Coach Marissa is stepping up to serve as the Interim Head Coach while I am deployed. You will start to see some email communication from her as we move through the summer, you can also reach out to her at [email protected]. We also have a new Team Administrator who will help with the communication and front office work for the club! Robert Arp is the Team Administrator and can be reached at [email protected]. You will start to see regular communications from him as he takes over the duties and responsibilities of this position. I will continue to be on deck and coaching throughout the summer session and into the first couple of weeks of the Fall session as well! But I will have bouts of extended absences as I start to attend specific training and additional drills as I get ready to leave.

Summer Session registration for the competitive groups opens Today! You will receive an email with information on how to register. If you are extending your registration from Spring into the summer, there is a “Summer Ad-on” registration option, please select that. If you are signing up to join us for the Summer session, please select the appropriate group for registration. Most swimmers are set on their USA Swimming registration, but if you have not swam in the last 7 months, you will need to select the seasonal USA Swimming registration option. The Summer Session runs May 30-August 5th.
