Our swim club will be hosting half of the Minnesota Achievement Championship (MAC’s) on July 9th and 10th.  There will be approximately 30 teams in attendance and we have approximately 160 swim meet jobs to fill in order to make the meet a success.  More information can be found on the  MAC Volunteer page of the website.  The majority of the positions are filled!  Thank you to those that have volunteered so far.  We still have a few positions open (runner, livestream operator, meet marshals, order-of-finish, Stroke and Turn officials, and Timing System Operators).  If you have any questions about the volunteer positions, you can email [email protected].  I’ll do my best to answer any questions you have and hopefully put any concerns to rest.  All families in the competitive groups: Novice Transition, Novice, Age Group, Pre-Senior, and Senior must complete at least two blocks of volunteering each session. Developmental families are not required to volunteer, but we would greatly appreciate the help, and it is a great opportunity to learn and see what competitive swimming looks like!  Volunteer deadline is June 29th.

RFSC will be hosting a Swim-A-Thon fundraiser held on Thursday, August 4th, from 3:00pm-5:00pm.  There will be a cookout and movie in the pool following the Swim-A-Thon (5:00pm-9:00pm).  The funds raised from the event will be used to help replace team equipment (e.g. fins, paddles, resistance bands, etc.) and the scoreboard that is used to run meets.  This event is open to all current and former RFSC swimmers that have a current USA Swimming membership (Yes, Developmental swimmers are eligible to participate!).  So far, we have raised about $1,000!  RSVP for this event is open now until July 28th.  Fundraising is in progress.

Have you ever considered a volunteer position on deck during a swim meet?  Would you like to have the best seat in the house at your child’s swim meet events?  Meet new friends? Get free entry into the meet?  Free food and drinks while you officiate?  Consider giving back to the swim community by becoming a swim meet official!  We are looking for Stroke And Turn judges, Administrative officials, Starters, and Referees.  Serving as an official completes all volunteer requirements with the club for the year.  If you have any questions about becoming an official, you can contact Robert at [email protected].

If you would like to order a black silicone swim cap with the team logo on the sides, the RSVP is available now until July 1st.  Click here to set your commitment for a team swim cap.  There is an option to customize the cap with a name but, if you would like to customize, there is a two cap minimum on the order.  These silicone caps are more durable than latex caps so they serve your swimmer for a while.  Once the order is placed, we will provide updates via email and right here in the weekly newsletter.

The team will be placing an apparel order with River City Stitch.  If you would like to order some new team-branded clothing, head on over to the River City Stitch website.  The order is set to close on June 29th.  The orders should be ready 2-3 weeks after the order closes (July 13-20).  The items will be available for pickup at the pool office once they arrive.

There will be no swim practice or swim lessons on July 4th.
