This is your River Falls Swim News for July 11th!

Action items are highlighted in yellow.

This past weekend the River Falls Swim Club hosted the Minnesota Achievement Championships.  First off, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all families that volunteered their time this weekend to make this meet a success.  Our team had 21 swimmers and competed in 74 events.  There were 44 new PRs achieved and 10 swimmers met new Achievement Time standards.  This week’s Swimmer of the Meet is Owen Wainionpaa.  He eliminated a combined total of 1 minute and 5.30 seconds over three events.  What an excellent performance in our home meet this weekend!

New Time Standards Achieved:

Silver – Arianna Garcia-100 free/50 back, Sophia Pfeiffer-50 free/50 back, Sydney Rippie-50 free/100 free, Harrison Smith-50 back, Rilee Smith-100 back, Mason Toronto-100 breast/100 fly, Owen Wainionpaa-200 free/50 breast/100 fly, Will Whipple-100 breast/50 free

Bronze – Kalea Loomis-100 free, Ryan Sell-50 back, Harrison Smith-50 free

RFSC will be hosting a Swim-A-Thon fundraiser held on Thursday, August 4th, from 3:00pm-5:00pm.  There will be a cookout and movie in the pool following the Swim-A-Thon (5:00pm-9:00pm).  The funds raised from the event will be used to help replace team equipment (e.g. fins, paddles, resistance bands, etc.) and the scoreboard that is used to run meets.  This event is open to all current and former RFSC swimmers that have a current USA Swimming membership (Yes, Developmental swimmers are eligible to participate!).  So far, we have raised about $1,000!  RSVP for this event is open now until July 28th.  Fundraising is in progress.

Have you ever considered a volunteer position on deck during a swim meet?  Would you like to have the best seat in the house at your child’s swim meet events?  Meet new friends? Get free entry into the meet?  Free food and drinks while you officiate?  Consider giving back to the swim community by becoming a swim meet official!  We are looking for Stroke And Turn judges, Administrative officials, Starters, and Referees.  Serving as an official completes all volunteer requirements with the club for the year.  If you have any questions about becoming an official, you can contact Robert at [email protected].

Orders for the black silicone swim cap, with the team logo on the sides, were compiled and sent in on July 1st.  We will provide updates via email and right here in the weekly newsletter.
