WAUNAKEE WAVE SUMMER SEASON

We welcome everyone to the 2024 Summer swim season. We currently have 6 new swimmers joining the summer season = WELCOME TO THE WAVE!  The first week we ease into the season with practices and learning, as it allows us to evaluate each swimmer and group to see if any group changes need to be made.

We would really love it if you are a returning family and see someone you don’t know at practice, introduce yourself and see if you can help answer any questions they may have.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS

Upcoming Schedules: Please see the Practice schedule and Meet Schedule for information on the Summer Season

Health and History Authorization forms- click here and bring a paper copy to give to coaches the first week of practices.

Team Handbook-Please review the team handbook the first week of practice. There is vital information for swimmers and families to review prior to the season.

Dryland Information-Many of the groups have what we term as Dryland as a part of their training groups practices. For our AG Gold and above swimmers, we are utilizing Harbor Athletic Club as an off site dry land program. This program is an "in or out" situation, and cannot be changed month to month. If you would like to opt out of dry land, you MUST contact Coach Sandy and discuss why your swimmer is not available.

  • All swimmers should bring the appropriate attire to dryland including wearing tennis shoes (which seems to be the number one most forgotten item).
  • All other dryland activities will occur at Waunakee HS unless you are AG Gold and above. The dryland times at Waunakee HS are a part of the regular practice schedule not in addition to the swim practice. If you are unable to attend or are in another sport and the additional time is challenging, please speak with your coach and let them know the situation.
  • Dryland is a tool we utilize to not only further enhance each child’s swimming but to make them overall a more complete athlete.

Equipment Needed- Please try to have your equipment by the start of our 2nd week. Click on this link for the list of equipment needed.

Communication: Please make sure you are regularly checking your social media, email and our website for the latest developments and updates.  Please do not hesitate to reach out to Coach Sandy personally with any questions or concerns. We wish all our Wave families good health and safety as we navigate this season.

Inclement Weather Policy-Waunakee High School's inclement weather policy is to clear the pool when there is lightning present. If the bad weather looks like it will continue for a long period of time, coaches will make the choice to cancel practice. Please keep an eye on social media and your emails during this time, as we could be in the middle of practice when bad weather comes along.

COACHES CORNER

DFAC entry deadline was last night. Coaches will be choosing events and submitting them tomorrow! Stay tuned for more information.

We hope to have the Olympic Trials on a TV during practices next week. There may be times where we pause practice to watch a race or two, giving pointers and showing technique and mechanics. What could be a better way to learn than from the best of the best?!

Please make sure to communicate practice absences with Coach Sandy ahead of the scheduled practice time.
