BASICS FOR NEW SWIMMERS

Welcome to Waunakee Wave! We are a non-profit swim team led by professional coaches, governed by a board of parent volunteers, and supported by committee volunteers. Wave is committed to excellent coaching that meets the goals and needs of all swimmers and their families.

PRACTICE SCHEDULE | MEET SCHEDULE
Each roster group has required practice days and times. Swimmers will show greater endurance and improvement with consistent practice attendance. A new swimmer may find workouts challenging; active children in great physical shape may find the first few weeks of practice difficult. Talk to coaches if you have any concerns.

COMMUNICATION
Information is shared through email, the website, social media, and the team bulletin board in the pool lobby.

Contact the Wave Admin with inquiries.

HANDBOOK
The handbook should be reviewed by parents/guardians and swimmers at the start of each session.

PRACTICE EQUIPMENT
Swimmers require equipment based on group level. All swimmers are required to have a suit and goggles, and all swimmers with hair longer than 3 inches, regardless of age or level, should wear a swim cap. At meets, we require swimmers to wear a black suit with the team logo and the team cap. Each swimmer will receive one swim cap and one team T-shirt as part of their registration (received once per season not session). Additional team apparel is available to order through Simply Swimming during specific order windows.

FEES
1.  Membership fee: paid in full per session
2.  USA Swimming Registration: our member-governed club is guided by USA Swimming and our local swimming committee (LSC), Wisconsin Swimming. All swimmers in a Performance Group, and all swimmers who compete in swim meets, are required to be actively registered with USA Swimming.

  • Returning members will have their annual membership renewed by the club with their earliest session registration and charges will be posted to their account.
  • Transfer swimmers should update their membership from their prior club to WAUN as soon as possible.
  • New swimmers should register with this Wave-unique link no earlier than September 1 of their current swim season.
  • See USA Swimming Membership Info for more details.

3. Meet fees: paid per swim meet attended (fees charged to member accounts)

VOLUNTEERING
Families have the privilege to support their swimmer through volunteering. Anyone high school age or older is allowed to fulfill the commitment.
