T-MINUS 24 DAYS UNTIL FALL SWIM SEASON STARTS
Can you believe it? Wishing all of our families a wonderful last few weeks of the summer break. But we can’t wait to see you back in the water to continue your swim training and to have some fun!
FALL REGISTRATION NOW OPEN
Returning swimmers can now register for the fall swim season! We have room for all of our current families, but once we open registration to new families on August 20th, we can no longer confirm a spot for you. We do anticipate that some of our groups will fill to capacity. So don’t delay in getting registered!
Check out our Wave website to see details about fall registration including practice schedules, meet schedules and group assignments
Note: you must be logged into your account to see group assignments.
STRATEGIC PLANNING SESSION UPDATE
Thank you to all of our families and swimmers who attended our Strategic Planning conversation last night. We had a great turnout. The Board had a chance to share our forward planning for the Wave and to hear from members about their concerns and ideas. We will continue to engage families and provide opportunities for those that missed the discussions to be looped in. We know that our club operates best with strong engagement from our members. So thank you for continuing to support Wave.
WAUNAKEE KIDS EXPO TODAY
Come to the Waunakee Area Kids Expo (W.A.K.E.) TONIGHT, Wednesday, August 14th from 4:00 - 6:30 pm at the Waunakee Intermediate School. There will be around forty exhibitors there to share information on the many youth programs, clubs and organizations the Waunakee community has to offer. Everyone that attends the event will have a chance to win a great door prize. Coach Sandy will be there representing our Waunakee Wave team. Stop by to say hi and answer some trivia to earn a prize!
WELCOME NEW COACH QUINN HARRIS
At the age of 11, I was introduced to the sport of swimming by joining the Middleton Gators Swim Team where I swam during the summers. I went on to swim at Middleton High School, specializing in 100 Free, 200 IM, and 100 Butterfly. In 2019, I had the opportunity to coach at Middleton Gators, where I have coached every summer since. This past summer I served as the Lead Coach for the 11-12 Age Group. Becoming a coach opened my eyes to my love for teaching which took me to University of Wisconsin - La Crosse, where I also swam for 2 years, specializing in 50 and 100 Free. I am currently finishing my degree in Elementary/Middle School Education and Nutrition, with student teaching here in the Madison area this fall. I am an avid weightlifter and body image/athlete mental health advocate, as well. I am extremely passionate about my work as a coach and hope my skills & goals allow athletes to always strive to improve but most importantly maintain their love for the sport. I am so excited to join the Wave coaching staff and engage with our swimmers!
GOOD LUCK WAVE GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL SWIMMERS
A large group of Wave senior girl swimmers began their fall seasons at both Middleton and Waunakee High School this week. We will miss their energy in the fall but wish them luck as they get to experience competitive swimming in a new setting. Can’t wait to celebrate their success and welcome them back next session.
HANDBOOK REVIEW
If you haven’t already, make sure to spend some time reviewing our Wave handbook. This important document contains a wealth of information about our club. It might be especially important to review the updates around volunteer hour obligations.
