IT’S COACHES APPRECIATION WEEK!
This week is coaches appreciation week. We are so grateful for all the hard work and extra effort they put into making our team the best swim team and helping our swimmers grow! If you happen to see them on the pool deck or off, let them know how much we appreciate them in and out of the pool!
NEW FACE ON THE POOL DECK
Exciting news! Our new assistant coach, Ben, started on Monday. He is excited to dive in and will be working with all levels of our program. We will post his bio shortly, so be sure to give him a warm welcome!
STORM SWIM MEET RECAP
Wow Waunakee Wave!!! We had a fantastic first meet of the season last weekend! With a bunch of first time swims, best times, and cuts achieved, Wave swimmers shot to the top! I cannot express how proud the coaches are of these swimmers. We even received compliments on how clean our bleacher area was when we left the meet! All of this equated to such a successful meet!
Swimmer Of the Meet - the 2 Lucy's! Lucy Baker and Lucy Tygum! Both helped coaches out a lot with the new swimmers! Thank you both!
ANNUAL HALLOWEEN COSTUME CONTEST!!
Show your spooky side and send us your Halloween Costume from this year!! Coaches will choose the best costume in each group and they will get a prize! We are asking for pictures to be submitted by Sunday, November 2nd to be considered. We LOVE seeing you all dressed up and creative!! Send pictures to coaches at [email protected].
NEW NEWS
WINTER SESSION REGISTRATION
Winter session is right around the corner, starting November 17th! Details on Winter Session will be published next week, so be on the lookout for those. Registration for returning swimmers will open on 10/27.
Evaluation dates for potential new swimmers are set for October 29 and November 1. If you know of families & swimmers interested in joining our team please encourage them to sign-up via our website (sign-up form will be published under “Join Wave” in the next few days). Please contact the Admin Team with any questions regarding the evaluation process! And reminder that returning swimmers do not need an evaluation.
SIMPLY SWIMMING ORDERS ARE IN!
Your swag orders have been delivered and we will be distributing them at the pool on Monday (10/13) and Wednesday (10/15) from 6:30-7:30PM. Please stop by or have your swimmer do so to receive your order. If any items are a gift or surprise for your swimmer that you want withheld from direct distribution to them, please email our Admin team with that instruction.
WAVE FUNDRAISER – THURS, OCTOBER 16 @ RED & WHITE WINEBAR (6–9 PM)
Join us for a fun evening out in support of our Wave Swim Team! On Thursday, October 16 from 6–9 PM, Red & White Winebar’s Old Fashioned Thursday will feature local celebrity bartenders Fred & Kiya Bachmann of Bachmann Pools & Spas, with all cash tips and 50/50 raffle proceeds benefiting the Wave Swim Team. Enjoy expertly crafted Old Fashioneds, great music, and good company—all while supporting our swimmers and a great local business. Drop your swimmer off at practice that night, then come grab a drink and join the fun! Invite your friends, family, and neighbors—let’s pack the house with the Wave community!

WAVE FALL CLASSIC MEET – SATURDAY NOVEMBER 15TH, 2025
We will be hosting our Wave Fall Classic on Saturday November 15th at the Waunakee HS Pool. Please prioritize your swimmer’s & family’s attendance at this meet! We need all families to volunteer to ensure our hosted meets are successful for the swimmers. Further details regarding this meet, timelines, and volunteer sign-up will be coming over the next few weeks.

This is a question we receive periodically from both new & continuing families. We believe the answer is a positive differentiator for our swim team. Please follow this link to read “Why Coaches Choose Meet Events” which details why we believe this is the right approach for our swimmers.
USA SWIMMING REGISTRATION
The Team’s bulk USA Swim registration has been processed. If you plan on attending meets in the future and missed out on our bulk registration, you will need to do so individually through the USA Swim website. Information is available in FAQs on the Wave website, in addition to within last week’s newsletter.
