Elaine Connell Email

Coach: Developmental 2 (11+)

I have been around COM my entire life - longer, actually! My mom, Coach Sara, swam here when she was pregnant with me. I went to my first TAGS when I was just a baby. I grew up around the swim team, then joined when I was old enough. I swam for COM and Lee High School until a shoulder injury cut my swimming career short. But my love of the sport never left me, even while in college. I attended West Texas A&M University from 2009-2015, where I earned a Bachelor of Music with a Teaching Certificate and a Master of Arts in Music. During that time I kept active by swimming in WT's lap pool (unfortunately they do not have a swim team). My boyfriend (now husband), Cameron, got a job at Legacy High School after we finished grad school, so we moved back to Midland. Continuing on the family legacy, I swam while pregnant with my daughter, Madeleine, until she was born in January of 2020. A few months later, I finally became a coach! Madeleine has grown up on the pool deck as well, but when she turns five in January, she'll be joining the Splash team!

I have coached Discovery, Splash, Dev 1, Dev 2, Dolphin 1, and Junior during my time here at COM. While I am taking a break right now to rest and spend time with Madeleine and Cameron, I still love coaching and am planning to step in when coaches have to be out.

I am employeed full-time at Midland College, where I am a Pathways Advisor for Health Sciences students. Previously I was a music and art teacher at Bunche Elementary. In my free time, I love to read, paint, craft, play bunco, and spend time with family and friends. I attend St Ann's Catholic Church and volunteer on the Midland County Child Welfare Board.
