HS Girls Win First Ever District Title!
The Marysville-Pilchuck High School Girls stood on the brink of history after 11 events at the Wesco 4A District Meet at Kamiak High School on Saturday Nov. 6th. Going into the 12th and final event they were tied with Snohomish at 391 points, with Kamiak lurking only 10 points back at 381. Fortunately the Tommies had the powerful 400 free relay of Jewel LeValley, Karoline Schaufler, Melody Coleman, and Hannah Taylor up and ready to take on the challenge. The relay, in spectacular fashion, won the final event of the day sealing the victory for Marysville. It was a great team effort as 11 swimmers and 2 divers contributed to the scoring. The 2 divers Maryssa and Roma and Leah Mullen-Gaffney scored points in 1 individual event, and along with the 400 free relay participants Rachel Hartmeyer, Melody Travis, Ava Commissariat, Amanda Collins, Amber Flynn, and Nicole Reynolds each made top 18 and scored in 2 individual events. Thanks to strong performances, Hannah Taylor, Jewel LeValley, Karoline Schaufler and Rachel Hartmeyer will be swimming individual events at the state meet. The 3 relays will also compete with the Mighty Melodys, Coleman and Travis inserted in them.
Way to go MP and their coaches, Jaci, Christy, and Dick, for this Epic Event!!
