Parent Information Meeting
October 4, 2013
I. Board Member Introductions: President – Julie Delaney; Vice President – Katy Magee; Treasurer – Jeri Rimat; Secretary – Suzi Elsner; Jan Coleman – Registration; Michelle Butler – Fundraising; Michael Lee – Meet Director; Ron Veazey – Sponsorship/Marketing; Mari Lozensky, Cristina Bennett
II. Navigating the website – see handout for key points of interest (hand outs can be found at the table)
III. Volunteer Opportunities – Sign up on the website to volunteer for meets, food donations, fun run help, swim-a-thon lap counters, etc… You can also time at away meets – make sure to let Julie or Jeri know if you time at an away meet. (30 hours per family from Sept.-Aug. as per contract)
IV. Fun Run Jobs/Donations – sign up is now on website under “Team Functions” tab.
V. Team Table Schedule – sign up to work at the table during practice. You will be paired with an experienced member during October. Sign ups for each month will be at the table.
VI. Volunteer Coordinator – We are looking for someone to head this position. At our home meets, you would be responsible for checking-in volunteers, monitoring the volunteers for changes, documenting hours worked, and reporting to the treasurer. (must be present for all sessions of meet) This would fulfill your 30 hours. If interested, contact Julie
VII. See’s Candy Sales – Selling will begin in November at $2 per bar. Each family is required to sell a minimum of 24 candy bars as per the parent contract. A prepayment of $48 is required when picking up your candy box.
VIII. Athlete/Parent Protection Training – Pacific Northwest Swimming (PNS) is encouraging all athletes and parents to take the online Athlete Protection Training. This can be found at www.pns.org
IX. Officials – trainings listed on PNS website under the Officials Tab. Training for Admin. Official is taking place Oct 19 at 1:00 pm at MPHS. Training for Starters is also at MPHS Oct. 19 at 10:00 am. (to become a starter you must already be a stroke and turn official)
X. December Meet (Dec.7-8) – job sign ups on our website will begin in Nov. *If you sign up online and the session ends earlier than listed, you will still get credit for the hours posted on the sign ups. If you do not sign up online but work at the meet and the session ends early, you will receive credit for the actual time worked. It pays to sign up online! ;-)
XI. Practice Changes – 10/10 6:00 only due to a high school meet, 10/31 No practice due to HS JV Champs Meet.
XII. Treasurer – payment plans/changes – Effective immediately, payments in person (at the table) will be accepted only on Fridays. We want to continue to offer the in person option, but reduce the number of evenings our treasurer has to be present at the table. Payments can still be mailed in or done through ACH or Bill Pay.
XIII. Coaches – Coach Kirby stressed the importance of arriving at practice and meets on time. Warm up is a very important part of practice and meet prep and it helps prevent injury. He also encourages all members to check the website daily or at least once a week as the best way to stay informed of meets, warm up times, changes, etc...
