Parent Meeting Recap 6/20

MMSC Parent Meeting – June 20, 2014

 

  1.  Practice hours and payment adjustments

-swimmers who are coming all mornings are now at 10 hours (it’s 7.5 during school year) so should be paying Group G at minimum.  If also swimming in pm then should be Group I (17) all days = 19.5

 

  1. LC Meet at KCAC on June 21-22

-Everyone entered in the meet is asked to bring 1 dozen cookies or brownies for hospitality.  Drop off with Jen Livingston at the meet.  (Jen will be at table by the heat sheets)

 

  1. Timing at Away Meets

-LC meets often will assign teams a lane for part or all of a meet for timing.When this happens, you are expected to help time if your child is entered in the meet.Be prepared to cover a 30-60 min. shift.We ALL must do our part.If our team doesn’t show up to time, we look bad and may not be invited back to that meet in the future.

 

  1. Swim-a-thon money is due July 18.

 

  1. Marlins Matters and emails – please read so that you are aware of any changes or important dates.

 

  1. Grouping/Coaching changes next year
  • three groups and three coaches each night: novice, middle and senior
  • coaches will determine middle group
  • Kirby will do senior group, Josh will do middle group and Andrew will do novice group
  • Andrew Winquist will be our new coach (see explanation below).  He is a swim instructor at Stilly Athletic Club, and he is a former Marlins team member.  He will be working alongside Meredith for the month of July and will begin with the novice swimmers in September.

 

  1. Meredith leaving

-Meredith will be stepping down August 3.This year, Meredith was a high school teacher, high school coach, Marlins coach and mother of two young children.She had a lot on her plate, and although she is very sad to be leaving, she needs to be able to spend more time with her family.She will complete the summer season with us.

-Meredith will be training Andrew during the month of July to help ease the transition.

-While we are very sad to see her go, we wish her the best for her and the family!
