Apple Capital Swim Meet - A Ton of Fun!
Four Mighty Marlins cracked the top 10 and scored points for the Marlins at the Fifty Second Annual Apple Capital Swim Meet in Wenatchee. (Kirby was at the first one in 1972).
Lucas Palmer took 6th in the 200 fly and 10th in the 400 free. Jenna Muise had the best placing for the Marlins with a 5th in the 400 IM, Cameron Leary was 7th in the 50 back, and Riley Tallquist was 10th in the 50 fly!
For many of our Marlins this was their first experience with a 50 meter, outdoor, pool. Also, some had not swum long course since Apple Capital last year. So, many swims were best times.
Kadie Whall led the way with 11, Alora DeVera and Milee Yanagida had 8 each, Ava Wright, Layne Kopischka, and Riley Tallquist 7 each, Sarah Zastoupil had 6, Cameron Leary, Sophia Whall, Aaron Ybarra, and Samantha Zastoupil 5 each, Jenna Muise and EmmaLee Stewart 4 each, and Addison Bowen, Nanako Kempma, Olivia Otto, and Lucas Palmer had 2 each. Kirby Schaufler could not beat the times he achieved in 1978, as an 18 year old.
Our real goal of bonding and getting to know each other was achieved, as we sat around the campfire sharing stories at Lincoln Rock State Park, and as our Marlins huddled under the canopy on the pool deck!
Next year we plan to get a group camp site, and we want everyone there!
Way to go Mighty Marlins!
