Manta Rays News 11.14.25

Jocelyn Paxton

Good Morning Manta Rays!

Here's your weekly team news!

November Invite: 11/15/25:

Our first home swim meet is tomorrow!!! Here are some helpful tips & reminders for all families, rookies and vets!

  • If your swimmer is participating in the meet tomorrow, it is STRONGLY recommended that they attend practice tonight (Friday 11/14).  We will be doing a practice walk-through of events, relays, and meet operations.  This is an excellent way to calm nerves and make sure all swimmers know what to expect on meet day!
  • Continue checking the team website Hosted Meets tab important meet information: https://www.gomotionapp.com/team/ymca-2205/page/hosted-meets
  • Meet Timeline:
    • Doors Open: 7:15 am
    • Pool Opens for warm-up schedule: 7:40 am
    • Officials Meeting: 8:30 am
    • Timer Meeting: 8:45 am **ALL Timers should attend this meeting-there WILL NOT be a meeting for 2nd half timers**
    • National Anthem: 9:25 am
    • Meet Start: 9:30 am
    • Mid Meet Break (for switching 1st & 2nd half jobs): after event 28 (estimated around 11:30 am)
  • During the Meet Reminders
    • Parents are not permitted in staging areas unless that’s the job you’re working (Clerk of Course, bleachers by blocks, behind the blocks, coach side of the pool, etc…)
    • If you have questions about your job, where to go, where to be, please find a parent booster committee member.
    • There should be no flash photography during the start of the races and NEVER any photos taken from behind the blocks.
  • Jobs
    • The job schedule was posted on the Hosted Meets tab on Wednesday.  It is now the responsibility of the scheduled family to find a replacement if you are unable to fulfill your job assignment AND communicate the change with job assignment coordinators ([email protected]).
    • All parents should check in upon arrival regardless of what half of the meet you’ll be working.  Check in will be at the end of the swim hallway by the trophy case.  Athlete check in is there as well!
    • POST MEET CLEAN UP: we ask that EVERYONE assist with cleaning up their areas and putting the pool back to normal operating conditions, not just those assigned to post meet clean up! The families assigned to clean up are primarily cleaning up timing equipment and other large items. There are pictures and lists of where everything goes.  If everyone helps, cleaning up takes a lot less time and we can all go home quickly.
  • Muscatine High School
    • Please be sure to stay in our designated spaces during the meet, this applies to all athletes and families!
    • NO ONE is permitted on the science wing stairs or in other areas of MHS. There are other activities occurring during our meet, please do not interfere with those activities.
    • Adults should use the restrooms in the foyer across from the cafeteria ONLY.  Locker rooms in the pool area are for athletes only.
  • Post Meet Information
    • Swimmer’s times posted on the scoreboard during the meet or on the Meet Mobile app are unofficial until they are approved by the A.O. and posted in the hallway. Remember just because your swimmer finished first in their heat, doesn’t mean they finished 1st overall in their event.
    • Official results will be posted on the Hosted Meets tab of the team website.
    • I will also post updated statistical information for our team like: Time drop totals, new team record holders (Top Rays), and so on!
  • Please check out the following documents if you haven’t already! These are great reminders and overviews of what to expect at a swim meet, how to prepare yourself and your swimmer!

Team Caps are still in production.  We have not gotten an estimated complettion or arrival date.  When we receive updated information, we will post that in Heja!

Meet updates will be posted on Heja from this point on, so please be sure to have your notifications on!

If you need to communicate with coaches in Heja, please include ALL coaches in your private chats, not just one, so we're all in the loop!

We're very excited for our first meet!

We'll see you all tomorrow!
GO MANTA RAYS!
