Head Swim Coach - Matt Reed

Coach Matt took over as the head coach of the Mid-Maine Dolphins in 2025 and brings over 10 years of experience in coaching and competetive swimming to the AYCC. Matt began his coaching career at Twin Cities Swim Team where he served as an assistant coach under Tom Manduca from 2010-2014. He then served as the head coach for Winslow High School from 2014-2017. After taking a break from the world of swimming to pursue an opportunity to serve his country in the United States Air Force, Matt returned to Maine and took over as the Head Coach for TCST, serving in that role from 2022-2025.

Matt grew up in Lewiston/Auburn, swimming for the Twin Cities Swim Team and later for Lewiston High School. During his time coaching for Winslow High School he was also an avid Master's swimmer.

Matt's coaching philosophy is rooted in fun! It is his firm belief that when swimmers are enjoying what they are doing, they stay engaged, work harder, and grow not only as athletes but also as people. He strives to create an environment where swimmers are excited to come to practice, feel supported by their teammates, and are motivated to challenge themselves. While competition and improvment are cornerstones of his team, he knows that it is just as important to celebrate personal growth, effort, and the joy of being partof a team. His goal is to help swimmers build confidence, develop lifelong skills, and foster a love for the sport that lasts well beyond their time with MMD.

Matt is an ASCA Level 3 coach and is a fully certified YMCA/USA Head Coach.
