*MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD COACH**
Dear Swim Families,
My thoughts are with our swimmers and families impacted by the COVID-19 virus.
We are going through unprecedented times, which call for tough decisions, courage, and compassion. While we have paused our programs and events for the health and safety of our youth, families, and staff, the Helena Family YMCA is taking this time to deep clean and upgrade some areas of the facility such as the pool. This closure is not forever, and we will get back to our normal service to the community when we know we are doing the right thing for the kids and the community.
In the meantime, I have been working on our At-Home Training and Activities Program, and I look forward to coaching, teaching and mentoring the team the days and weeks to come. We can all strive to make ourselves 1% better every day during this time before we get into the water. I encourage our athletes to do these workouts and activities with family members, in order to stay physically and emotionally strong during this time out of the pool. The At-Home Training and Activities Program is open for swimmers who plan to compete in the Penguins (Beginner), Gators (Intermediate) and Advanced (Tridents) swim levels.
The components of this program will include:
- Customized Dryland Training for each swimmer: workouts, injury prevention exercises, recovery work
- Technique Tips/Race Strategies
- Health and Nutrition
- Mental/Emotional Health
- Parent Resources
- Weekly team challenges
- And more!
