The Bayside YMCA  offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of the Bayside YMCA to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.

8 & Unders

Practices are 3 days per week for 45 minutes per practice.

  1. Must be able to swim 1 length freestyle non-stop
  2. Should be able to swim 1 length non-stop of either Fly, Back, Breaststroke
  3. Expected to make minimum 2 practices per week
  4. Recommend swimming 2-3 days per week

9 & 10

Practices are 4 days per week for 1 hour practices

  1. Must be able to swim multiple laps freestyle non-stop
  2. Should be able to swim multiple laps of either Fly, Back, Breaststroke
  3. Expected to make minimum 3 practices per week
  4. Recommend swimming 3-4 days per week

11 & 12

Practices are 5 days per week for 1 ½ hour practices. 

  1. Must be able to swim multiple laps freestyle non-stop
  2. Should be able to swim multiple laps of either Fly, Back, Breaststroke
  3. Expected to make minimum 4 practices per week
  4. Recommend swimming 5 days per week

13 & Up

Practices are 5 days per week for 1 ½ hour practices. 

  1. This is a competitive age so swimmers should have experience swimming on a competitive swim team
  2. Must be able to swim multiple laps freestyle non-stop including sprints and distance
  3. Should be able to swim multiple laps of all strokes including IM
  4. Expected to make minimum 5 practices per week
  5. Recommend swimming 3-5 days per week with Bayside and 5 days per week with High School team for double sessions.Also recommend 3 days per week of dry-land training
