As of October 1, 2023 USA Swimming has enacted rules that increase the requirements and roles of Meet Marshals, sometimes referred to as "Safety Marshals". The function of Meet Marshals is to ensure a safe environment at swim meets for all participants.

The principal change is that Meet Marshals must now take an online course through USA Swimming before serving as a Meet Marshal.  We need to have a minimum of 3 Meet Marshals (at least one male and one female) at our meets at all times (starting 15 minutes before warmup), and the Meet Marshal may NOT be a coach or the meet director.  Thus, we need 15-20 parents who are willing to serve as Meet Marshals to take the online training course so that we are prepared for future meets, including the one we are hosting next weekend.

The USA Swimming Meet Marshal course may be accessed here by logging in to your USA Swimming account (which you created to register your swimmer as a member of USA Swimming). If you take the course or plan to take the course, please let me know so that I can make sure we have enough people. If you have trouble finding the course, we are happy to help.

If you want to learn more about the Meet Marshal role, check out the Meet Marshal Guide from Virginia Swimming.

Thank you in advance for your help,

Coach Ryan
