Dalton Herendeen Head Coach

Dalton Herendeen is a distinguished professional swim coach and two-time Paralympian, celebrated for his exceptional contributions to the sport of swimming and his commitment to athlete development. Dalton represented the United States in the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, placing 4th in Rio. He holds the American record for the 100m breaststroke (SB8 Class), set during the 2015 World Championships. 

A former collegiate swimmer and team captain at the University of Indianapolis, Dalton consistently excelled throughout his four years, finishing in the top eight at the Great Lakes Valley Conference. His dedication and talent earned him the Glen Lee Award in high school, as well as the Mental Attitude Award from the University of Indianapolis. 

Dalton's coaching career has made a significant impact in various roles, particularly as the Head Coach of Flashes Aquatics since 2018. His leadership has led to a 20% increase in the Indiana State Club Ranking, alongside 10 top ten finishes at Age Group State and top 15 finishes at Senior State. Notably, the team achieved a best-in-club history finish of 7th at the Long Course Age Group State in 2024. Under his guidance, athlete qualifiers surged by 38%, and he successfully coached multiple top-15 recruits, along with eight finalists at the Indiana Age Group State Championships, 5 Indiana State Champions, and 3 Central Zone Champions. 

He began his coaching journey at Franklin Central as a middle school coach, where he led the boys' team to an undefeated record in the 2019-2020--a historic first. Over two years, he helped set eight school records while the girls' team recorded a 10-1 season, establishing 15 new school records. Currently serving as the Head Coach of Franklin Central High School, he celebrated a groundbreaking achievement in 2024, leading the Franklin Central Girls High School Swim Team to win sectionals, marking a first in the school's history. In recognition of his remarkable contributions, Dalton was awarded "Coach of the Year" for his outstanding leadership and success in developing young athletes. 

Previously, Dalton served as an assistant coach at Mary Washington College from 2015 to 2018, guiding NCAA Division III swimmers to top finishes and playing a pivotal role in securing four consecutive conference titles for both the men's and women's teams. As Head Site Coach at the Rays Swim Club, he successfully nurtured state champions and produced swimmers qualifying for national meets, including the NCSA and East Zone Select Camp.

Beyond coaching, Dalton demonstrates his commitment to the swimming community as a board member of Indiana Swimming, where he has served for three years and currently acts as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Chair. He is dedicated to fostering a positive athlete-centered culture across all programs. 

Outside of his professional life, Dalton lives with his wife, Lauren, and their two sons, Kenobi and Lando, along with their basset hound named Baxter. Together, they create a loving and supportive home environment that reflects Dalton's values of teamwork and personal growth. 

Kyle Massengale Associate Head Coach

Coach Kyle's passion for swimming began at the age of 15 when he joined the Bloomington High School South swim team. His dedication and talent carried him to the University of Indianapolis, where he further honed his skills and became an integral part of the Great Lakes Valley Championship Team in 2018. Kyle's specialization in sprint freestyle has yielded remarkable achievements, making him a valuable asset to the swimming community. 

Coach Kyle brings a wealth of experience both as a competitive swimmer and as a coach. Having spent several years coaching with Flashes Aquatics, including serving as the Head Age Group Coach and assisting at the Indiana University Swim Camps, he has honed his skills in guiding and mentoring young swimmers to reach their full potential. 

Coach Kyle's enthusiasm for coaching stems from his desire to inspire and motivate younger swimmers, guiding them along their swimming journey and instilling in them a love for the sport. His dedication to the growth and development of his athletes both in and out of the pool makes him a valued member of the swimming community. 

Off the pool deck, Coach Kyle enjoys staying active, spending time outdoors, and spending time with his family. 

 

Matthew Bond Head Age Group Coach

Coach Matt began his swimming career in 2009 at Concord Swim Club. Initially, he wasn't a big fan and didn't revisit the sport until 2013 in junior high. After experiencing a bit of success, he decided to pursue club swimming full-time following his freshman season at Concord High School. During his junior year, he broke school records in the 200 free and 100 breast, and was part of a record-setting 200 free relay. In his senior year, he bettered his own mark in the 100 breast and was part of a record-breaking 200 medley relay. That summer, he also reached his summer Junior National marks in the 200 breast and 100 breast, where he was a runner-up at Futures. He achieved All-American status in high school and was a D2 All-American in the 200 breast his sophomore season at UIndy.

Coach Matt joined Flashes Aquatics in 2021. His love for the sport was a significant motivator in taking the next step in the swimming world. He brings a wealth of wisdom to both the physical and mental aspects of swimming and hopes to share this with the athletes at Flashes. He is passionate about inspiring a love for the water in all the athletes he coaches. 

Outside of swimming, Matt enjoys listening to music from various genres, disc golfing, playing video games, and spending time outdoors. 

Braiden Doane Coach
Kyra Hall Coach

Kyra has been swimming since she was 8 years old! She started in 2011 and has been swimming ever since, specializing in backstroke. Over her 12 years, she has garnered honors such as 3-time Indiana High School Sectional Champion, 3-time Indiana High School State Finalist, and many other athletic and academic awards. She currently swims for the University of Indianapolis as a 100 and 200 backstroker, and is majoring in Exercise Science with a concentration in Athletic Training and a minior in Pyschology. After she finishes her degree, she hopes to start the master's program in Athletic Training. Kyra got her start with coaching back at home with theEast Central Swim Team in 2018, and has been coaching ever since. She specializes in stroke develpment and technique, especially with new and beginner swimmers. She is excited to have a new home and grow as a coach with Flashes Aquatics! 

 

Abbe Hershberger Coach

Coach Abbe started her swim career with Flashes Aquatics at age 11 and swam for Franklin Central Flashes all four years of High School. With both teams Abbe participated at multiple championship meets including being a State qualifier all four years of high school and club. She also broke or holds multiple records. Abbe has swam a variety of strokes and events which include both sprint, distance, and IM. Abbe graduated April 2024 from Indiana Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Social Work. She ended her swim career at IWU which focused on 200 free, 200 IM, 100 Free, 100 fly, and Relay anchor. She holds the IWU Individual 200 Free Record and the IWU 400 Medley Relay Record. She was named All American all three years and a National Qualifier all 3 years of her college career so far. She was named All Mid-South Conference all three years. Abbe is a Daktronics NAIA Womens Swimming Scholar Athlete and has been Academic All Conference all three years of her college career so far. Abbe is currently starting a Master of Social Work Program for 11 months as she continues to coach for FA. Abbe continues to enjoy getting to know each swimmer who goes through the program and helping younger swimmers develop their technique. Abbe hopes to help each swimmer find the same passion for swimming that she has. 

Maddisen Lantz Coach

Coach Maddisen began her swimming career in 2006 in Northern Indiana. She was the Indiana Age Group State Champion in the 50 back. She has participated in several national meets including Zones, Sectionals and Quads. Maddisen was an Indiana State qualifier all four years of high school. She continued her swim career in college at Uindy, specializing in sprint free and backstroke. Maddisen continued to share her love of swimming with others while coaching swim lessons for six years. Maddisen enjoyed watching younger swimmers improve their strokes and technique.

In 2019 Maddisen joined Flashes Aquatics. Her expertise and love of swimming were quickly apparent. During her time with the Flashes, Maddisen has coached athletes to Divisional, State, and Zone qualifications and championships. She has helped to develop athletes that are both physically and mentally ready to compete.

When Maddisen is not on deck, she spends her time teaching third grade in Dectaur Township. She enjoys spending time with her fiancé and her Golden Retriever, Mustang.

Ashlee Scott Coach

Ashlee started her swim journey in second grade by joining her neighborhood swim team. From there, she began teaching swim lessons at age 14 and continued lessons every summer til she was in her early 20s. She was a member of her local club team, middle school swim team, and high school team throughout the years. She participated in many championship meets, zone meets, state meets for HS, and loved every second of it. 

She continued on to swim for the University of Indianapolis where she made an appearance at the national level meet two years in a row. Ashlee specialized in sprint butterfly (50, 100, 200).

Ashlee grew up in Perry Township and for the longest time, has considered FC a rival swim group. Funny how times have changed! She is excited to start this journey with Flashes Aquatics and is eager to learn and help coach the swimmers of the future. 

Outside of the swimming world, Ashlee is an occupational therapist full time along with raising two handsome boys. Random Fact: Ashlee's husband and brother in law still hold Franklin Central swim records 15 years later! 

 
Claire Vest Coach

Claire was an elite youth swimmer, and a leading swim instructor throughout high school and college for Lake Central High School. She still loves the sport and staying active, by competing in masters swimming and doing water sports with her family. Claire is excited to see the sport of swimming grow in Franklin Township. 

Matt Vest Coach

Matt started swimming in elementary school for his local club team, Indian Creek Aquatics Club in Trafalgar, Indiana. In high school, he was a three-time captain of his team and state qualifier, and competed against Franklin Central at Sectionals focusing primarily on distance events and breaststroke. He also coached a variety of age group levels during his time with the club. He continued swimming as a three-year letterman at Wabash College, focusing on breaststroke and the 400 IM. He graduated from Walbash with a degree in Political Science and History and now works as an IT Consultant. Matt has a daughter on the team, and is looking forward to helping Flashes Aquatics grow into a dominant force in central Indiana Swimming. 

Rebecca hull Club Manager

Becky is creative and organized, and has an extensive background working with large groups. She graduated from Indiana University with a BS in Elementary Education. She is a former classroom teacher with over 10 years of experince, and now works with children outside the classroom as an Orton Gillingham Trained Tutor and Reading Specialist. 

Becky enjoys spending time with family and friends. She has two swimmers that are on the Flashes Aquatics Club Team. She is passoniate about helping Flashes Aquatics and loves her job as the club manager.
