Solomon D' Amico moved to Seward area in the Spring of 1994. Since then, he has served in the Marine Corps, completed a BS in Kinesiology from Indiana Unversity (2011) and helped coach Seward area youth sports to include: swimming, strength training, track and field, basketball, and cross country running since 2010. He has been an STSC Coach since 2014. I'm looking forward to meeting and working with all the swimmers and their parents this upcoming season, and hope my experience and education can help all involved accomplish their goals!
Tara was born and raised in Seward, Alaska. She began her swimming career as a Tsunami swimmer at age 7. Tara went on to become a NCAA Division III scholar athlete at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, OR, swimming four years and running track and field for two. She captained the women’s swim team her junior and senior year at L&C, where she was a member of several record breaking and championship winning relay teams. Her favorite stroke was, and continues to be, freestyle - from the 50 to the 1,000. She now loves being a member of the incredible Tsunami coaching team. When not on deck Tara can be found chasing her 4 kids (two of whom are Tsunamis), running a preschool, and, when she can find time, trail running with her dog.
Katie grew up in Phoenix, Arizona and started swimming competitively at the age of 5. She has competed initially at the club level and then for her Division 5A High School swim team. Though she competed in all events, her favorites were the 200 IM and 100 Breastroke. In college, Katie switched from swimming to playing Water Polo where she joined the Division 1 team for Arizona State University.
Christy has been a swimmer for most of her life, starting out as a Synchronized swimmer!! She competed in that until the age of 12, where she qualified for Nationals! A family move took her away from that sport but she continued her love of swimming, competing in both club swimming and high school swim team where she qualified for the state competition. She pursued soccer both in high school and in college and was nominated captain of her team in both venues! She is currently working as a preschool teacher and professional kid wrangler of her three kids!
Sylvia has
been teaching swimming lessons, coaching and
lifeguarding at the Seward High School Pool since 1988.
She recently retired as our pool manager after 33
years. Her aquatic journey started in her backyard pool,
and the rivers and lakes of Oregon. Everything water is her
passion!
She is excited to be back on deck as a Tsunami Coach!

My name is Cara Maxwell and I am graduate of The University of North Florida where I swam for 4 years. I specialized in butterfly, breaststroke, and distance freestyle. I’ve been the head coach of a year round team in Charlotte, North Carolina the past two years and coached summerleague teams in Florida. I was also lucky enough to coach with STSC from 2018-2019. I love seeing kids advance and fall in love with the sport of swimming. I am so excited to come back and be a part of the Seward Tsunamis Swim Team once again!
Leslie is the past president (2014-2022) of STSC and is a USA Swimming certified coach. She has attended countless practices and meets and enjoys everything related to swimming. Leslie is honored to assist on deck filling water bottles, boosting morale, and enjoying the company of the incredible Seward Tsunami swimmers and coaches.
