The Team
Wasilla Waves Swim Club is a local, non-profit, swim club for youth ages 5 through 18. We coach for competitive swimming while promoting the development of good sportsmanship, individual integrity, and lifelong healthy habits.
We practice year-round at Wasilla Public Pool located in the South Parking Lot of Wasilla High School.
During the school year, our practice takes place in the afternoon after school. In the summer and over school breaks we practice in the morning.
WWSC Coaches:
Head Coach
Camille Dayton
Favorite Stroke: Individual Medley
Originally enrolled in lessons at age 3 for water safety, coach Camille has been with the sport ever since. She began swimming competitively at age 11 and holds team records for the Wasilla Waves, the Anchorage YMCA, and Colony High School. (She also still holds the state record for the 1500 Free too!) She just finished her collegiate swim career at UAF (2018-2023) and has returned home to the Valley to coach where it all began for her.
She enjoys how accomplishing it is to witness how happy athletes are in the water, reaching their goals in the sport. She loves helping them find confidence in themselves.
You can find Camille spending time with her family, going on road trips, hiking, being outside, cooking, and reading when she’s not coaching. Her favorite Alaskan activity is dog mushing - and is even training to compete!

Assistant Coach
Anna Stout
Favorite Stroke: Backstroke
Coach Anna grew up in a small Alaska town and initially began swimming for water safety and to keep busy in the winter months! She joined her first swim team when she was 6 and didn’t stop until a few months before high school graduation. During that time, she swam on three different teams- all in Alaska- preferring distance swimming than sprinting.. Anna became a Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor in high school and began coaching after she turned 18. All of that combined means she has spent a good portion of her life at a pool, and she still loves it!
A water lover through and through, her favorite Alaska activity is whale watching. When she’s not coaching, she loves spending time cooking, baking, decorating her house, camping, berry picking, and caroling.
Fun fact: Anna has coached a lot of our swimmers from their very beginning days in lessons at the Wasilla pool and coaches alongside coaches that coached her!
Assistant Coach
Alex Peter
Favorite Stroke: Freestyle
Coach Alex has always been in love with the water and has always felt the most peace when in or near water. She started swim lessons around the age of 3 and then joined the local northern Wisconsin swim club at 7 years old. She swam with that swim club until she was 19 years old and even coached for them throughout high school.
Her favorite thing about coaching is watching swimmers grow in the sport and meet their swimming goals, but more than that she love seeing youth grow in their confidence, their self-esteem, and their sportsmanship. Coaching younger kids is always a lot of fun too because of their joy and excitement about the sport!
Coach Alex loves canoeing/kayaking, fishing, reading, and traveling. Her favorite Alaskan adventures include tide pooling and walking in the woods.

Pierce McDonough
When he's not at the pool, you can find Pierce outdoors! He loves to freestyle ski, mountain bike, and fish.
