Oro Valley Swim Team Year-Round (USA) Training Groups

 Emerald: Emerald is our standard 8&U group, focusing mostly on improving technique in freestyle and backstroke, learning some basics of butterfly and breaststroke, and having fun. Swimmers must be able to comfortably complete 25 yards in any manner before joining. Practice is offered MTWF. Swimmers at this level should attend 2 to 3 practices per week.

 Ruby: Ruby Group is for the typical 9-11 year old swimmer (1 to 3 years of competitive experience). Swimmers will continue to improve their freestyle and backstroke, and spend much more time developing their breaststroke, butterfly, turns, and conditioning. Practice is offered M-F, and swimmers should try to make 2 or 3 practices per week. Swimmers in this group should be able to swim a 100y freestyle at decent speed and without stopping. Swimmers should know or be able to demonstrate some skill with fly or breast before joining this group.

 Sapphire: Sapphire Group is geared towards the average 11-14 year old (2 to 5 years of experience). This group is for swimmers that can legally swim all four strokes. Technique will continue to be refined and more intensity will be added to their training. Practice is offered 5 days per week. Swimmers should try to attend four practices per week.

Turquoise: Turquoise is an advanced group for top year-round swimmers age 11-13. Swimmers should have already achieved at least one state qualifying time before being invited into this group. Swimmers must commit to a year-round training focused on developing solid mental, physical, and technical aspects needed to excel in the sport of swimming

 Senior: Senior Group is our standard group for high school age swimmers. Practice will be offered 7+ times per week, including morning and Saturday practices. Regular attendance is expected at this level.

 Red Group: Red Group is for our most committed senior swimmers with a goal of qualifying and preparing for meets outside of Arizona. Practice will be offered 7+ times per week. The Head Coach will speak to eligible swimmers that meet the attendance and speed requirements.
