The Fall 2025 session of Introduction to Pre-Competitive will run from Monday, September 8 to Monday, December 1, 2025.

This 12-week introductory swim program prepares children ages 5-8 for the Beach Cities Alpha Pre-Competitive program. Our effective method of instruction emphasizes developing and strengthening water survival skills that seamlessly progress into proper stroke technique, providing efficient advancement and successful results, starting with children as young as 5 years, who are already comfortable in deep water and can move through the water unassisted. Proper stroke technique is NOT required.

- Classes offered M-TH from 3:30-4:00 pm
- 4 practices per week offered.
- At least 3x per week attendance is strongly recommended.
- At least 2x per week attendance is required to guarantee your spot throughout the session.

- Location- City of El Segundo/Wiseburn USD Aquatic Center - 2240 E Grand Ave. El Segundo, CA 90245 (Instructional Pool)
- This is a “12- week program”, however due to holiday cancellations/coach vacations, the program may be extended for make-up sessions. There are no holiday cancellations for the Fall 2025 season, as of now. Please keep in mind that due to unforeseen pool closures, weather, illness, etc, additional cancellations are possible, in which case a make-up class will be given. The program will always run for 48 x 30-minute practice sessions.
- Dues due at time of registration: $599 for “12 weeks”
- El Segundo residents receive a 20% discount: $479 for “12 weeks”
- The 2025 Fall season’s Intro to Pre-Competitive session will run from Monday, September 8 to Monday, December 1, 2025. (We will not have class on Thanksgiving.)
Enrollment Requirements:
- Ages 5-8 years old, not fearful of deep water, can submerge face and blow nose bubbles, can enter the water without hesitation, and float in a horizontal position on back and stomach, and move through the water unassisted (swimmers must be “water safe” to participate but proper stroke technique is NOT required.)
- An in-person evaluation is required to register.
Equipment Requirements:

- Beach Cities Alpha swim cap, Speedo goggles, kick board, and fins.
