Competitive Team

BEACH 1 ($220/month)

This group’s main focus is becoming “race ready” through kicking and stroke/skill development, but sets and intervals are introduced. Starts, turns, and other racing habits are taught and reinforced to ensure they are maintained as the athlete progresses up the BCS ladder.  Enjoying the sport and emphasizing the team concept are fundamental in this group.  Beach 1 competes at the novice level, sticking mostly to the Pacific Committee Invitational circuit.  Athletes are generally performing at the 10&Under National "B" level in multiple strokes and/or IM when they exit this group.

70% attendance is encouraged.

Equipment: team cap, goggles, water bottle, fins, kickboard, jr. pull buoy, swimmer's snorkel (front-mounted), yoga mat

**65% attendance in the previous quarter is required in order to attend swim meets.  Special consideration will be given to multi-sport athletes.**

**All groups require team apparel at practice and meets**

 

BEACH 2 ($240/month)

This group’s main focus is becoming “race ready” through kicking and technique, but training sets are introduced. Starts, turns, and racing habits are enforced to ensure they are maintained up the BCS ladder.  Beach 2 competes at the novice level, sticking mostly to the Pacific Committee Invitational circuit, with the goal of transitioning to Age Group Championship level competitions.  Athletes are generally performing at the 11-12 National "B" level in multiple strokes and/or IM when they exit this group.

75% attendance is encouraged.

Equipment: team cap, goggles, water bottle, fins, kickboard, jr. pull buoy, swimmer's snorkel (front-mounted), yoga mat, resistance band (get from coach)

BEACH 3 ($240/month)

Beach 3 has a major emphasis on stroke/skill development and race readiness, while continuing to require positive practice habits on a daily basis. This group is competing at Invitational competitions and at the Age Group Championship level.  Athletes are generally performing at the 11-12 National "A" level in multiple strokes and/or IM when they exit this group.

80% attendance is encouraged.

Equipment: team cap, goggles, water bottles, fins, kickboard, finger paddles, hand paddles (Speedo Power Paddle Plus preferred, but Strokemakers are OK), jr. pull buoy, swimmer's snorkel (front-mounted), pulling band (optional), tempo trainer, yoga mat, resistance band (get from coach)

BEACH 4 ($255/month)

In the Beach 4 group, there is a shift in intensity, with technique still being the primary focus.  Swimmers are encouraged to hold themselves accountable for any missed practices, and strive for continued success in Southern California Swimming. Independence and personal accountability (athlete driven) are major focuses for this group.  Athletes are generally performing at the 13-14 National "B" level in multiple strokes and/or IM when they exit this group.

85% attendance is encouraged.

Equipment: team cap, goggles, water bottles, fins, kickboard, finger paddles, jr. pull buoy, swimmer's snorkel (front-mounted), pulling band (optional), tempo trainer, yoga mat, resistance band (get from coach)

BEACH 5 ($255/month)

Beach 5 is our highest age group level.  Although there is still a large emphasis on their technical development, the focus has shifted to a periodized plan that prepares them for continued development at the Southern California Swimming Championship level and beyond.  Athletes are generally performing at the 13-14 National "A" level in multiple strokes and/or IM when they exit this group.

90% attendance is expected.

Equipment: team cap, goggles, water bottles, fins, kickboard, hand paddles (Speedo Power Paddle Plus preferred, but Strokemakers are OK), jr. pull buoy, finger paddles, swimmer's snorkel (front-mounted), pulling band (optional), tempo trainer, yoga mat, resistance band (get from coach)

SENIOR 1 ($230/month)

The Senior 1 group is our first level for 13+ year olds.  The goal is to prepare them physically for high school swimming, other sports, or Senior 2 - depending on the goals discussed with their coach. Their swim development will be highly focused on a well-rounded plan of technique, aerobic, and anaerobic work.

70% attendance is encouraged for this group.

Equipment: team cap, goggles, water bottle, fins, kickboard, hand paddles (Speedo Power Paddle Plus preferred, but Strokemakers are OK), pull buoy, swimmer's snorkel (front-mounted), pulling band (optional)

**All groups require team apparel at practice and meets**

 

SENIOR 2 ($255/month)

Senior 2 is the first introduction to high performance training with Beach Cities Swimming, but will still focus on technique with the increase in swimming demands. Time management, communication with the staff, and heightened kinesthetic awareness are the goals for the group. 

80% attendance is required, and they must attend competitions.

SENIOR 3 ($255/month + monthly gym fee)

Senior 3 has made their way into the Southern California Swimming Championship level and are continuing to develop consistent training habits in order to continue to grow in the sport. This group will have a more rigorous dryland program and will see an increase in yardage while still maintaining proper technique in training.

80% attendance is required, and they must attend competitions.  

Equipment: team cap, goggles, water bottle, short fins, kickboard, hand paddles (Speedo Power Paddle Plus preferred, but Strokemakers are OK), finger paddles, pull buoy, tempo trainer, swimmer's snorkel (front-mounted), pulling band (optional), small parachute

**70% attendance in the previous quarter is required in order to attend swim meets and 80% attendance in the previous quarter in order to swim distance events at swim meets**

SENIOR 4 ($265/month + monthly gym fee)

Senior 4s are working towards becoming regulars in the Southern California Senior swim circuit.  These swimmers are working towards the mental/physiological preparation needed for eventual success at the national level. The goal is to have a full line-up of Summer Age Group Championships and Senior Development Cuts.

Maintain 85% attendance as well as a weight room commitment.

HIGH PERFORMANCE ($310/month + monthly gym fee)

The High Performance group has their Sectionals Cuts, and are working towards attaining their Futures/Junior National Cuts & beyond.  They have committed to swimming as a sport, and are preparing for collegiate swimming.

Attendance and weight room commitment is mandatory.

Equipment: team cap, goggles, water bottle, pull buoy, swimmer's snorkel (front-mounted), pulling band, short fin (DMC), kickboard, tempo trainer, hand paddles (Speedo Power Paddle Plus preferred, but Strokemakers are OK)resistance band (contact coach for more info), Speedo parachute (smallest size - contact coach for more info)
