Winter Age Group Championships - Day Three

Winter Age Group Championships has come and gone and Beach Cities had some amazing swims, amazing time drops, fast relays, and multiple top 10 finishes.  The 13-14 girls 200 yard freestyle relay comprised of Jennie Bao, Shannon O’Brien, Riley Farrell, and Kathryn Doyle swam to a 9th place overall finish with a time of 1:48.68.  The 13-14 girls 400 yard medley relay comprised of Kathryn Doyle, Jennie Bao, Hayley Winn, and Lauren Nielsen swam to an 8th place overall finish with a time of 4:25.51.  Way to go girls!!!

Saturday night’s final session had a great BCS showing in the 100 backstroke with Kathryn Doyle, Riley Farrell and Shannon O’Brien all making at back in the 100 yard backstroke.  Doyle finished 10th in prelims and then came back for finals with a time of 1:02.64 and finishing 6th overall.  Farrell locked in a 9th place spot in prelims and came back for a 10th overall finish with a time of 1:05.40.  O’Brien swam to a preliminary 5th place finish and finished 8th overall at finals with a time of 1:03.28.  Amazing swimming, ladies!!

Sundays prelims swam best swims for Lauren Nielsen and Riley Farrell in the 200 free, Jennie Bao in the 200 breast, and Haley Winn and Shannon O’Brien in the 100 fly.  Jennie Bao had a standout performance swimming a best time of 2:42.99 in the 200 yard breaststroke for the prelims session and then dropping another second at finals and finishing 7th overall.  Elle Inscore took home gold in the 50 yard freestyle swimming a best time of 24.46, dropping even more time from her 2nd place prelims finish of 24.96.  Lauren Nielsen made it back in the 200 yard freestyle placing 7th overall and Haley Winn finished 8th overall with a best time of 1:03.52 in the 100 yard butterfly.  Congratulations on a job well done!!

Sunday’s prelim session was another show stopper by our 12 and under swimmers with 79% best times and 8 top 10 finishes.  Alex Crisera finished 3rd overall in the girls 11-12 200 yard medley with a time of 2:21.49.  The 7-10 boys had a great showing in the 200 yard individual medley with Kai Scarlet taking gold with a best time of 2:29.91 and Brad Diaz dropping 8 seconds and finishing 7th overall with a time of 2:40.31.  Alex Crisera took silver in the 100 yard backstroke with a best time of 1:03.99.  Roger Brown took gold in the boys 7-10 100 yard backstroke with a best time of 1:08.14 and Kai Scarlet took bronze with a best time of 1:12.92.  Vi Hong shined and took 3rd in the boys 11-12 boys 50 yard breastroke with a best time of 33.56 and Ryan O’Shaughnessy took 3rd overall in the 7-10 boys 50 breastroke with a best time of 38.52.  Roger Brown finished up the individual events with a silver medal in the boys 7-10 100 yard freestyle and a best time of 1:01.17.  

A super special congratulation to the boys 7-10 200 medley relay.  The team of Kai Scarlet, Ryan O’Shaughnesy, Brad Diaz, and Roger Brown destroyed the competition and swam to a best time of 2:12.50 and took first overall!

This was an amazing meet for Beach Cities Swimming and really shows that we are the up and coming team to watch!  The coaches are so very proud of all of the hard work and effort that went in to prepare for this away meet and thank you a million times to all the parents that took time off work and traveled all the way to Las Vegas to spend hours at a pool.
