Winter Junior Olympics - Day Four

Winter Junior Olympics wrapped up the final day of competition Monday and had some outstanding swims by Beach Cities.  The bag of medals is very heavy!!  

The final session kicked off with the 11-14 boys racing in the 100 yard freestyle.  Roger Brown locked in a 6th place finish in prelims and came back for finals with a 5th place overall finish and a best time of 1:00.30.  Great swim, Roger!!

The 11-12 boys also competed in the 50 yard butterfly and showcased Roger Brown with an excellent time drop for a best time of 30.66 and a 4th place overall finish.  Awesome!!

The 7-10 boys also raced in the 50 fly.  Bradley Diaz locked in a 13th place seed during prelims bringing him back to compete during the finals session.  He placed 12th overall in the consoles heat.  Kai Scarlet locked in a 2nd place seen during the prelims session and finished 2nd overall during the finals heat.  Great effort, boys!!

Brad Diaz and Kai Scarlet also swam hard in the 100 breaststroke and placed 15th in consoles and 3rd in finals, respectively.  Congratulations!!  

The 100 yard backstroke had a great showing for both boys and girls.  Alex Crisera representing the 12 year olds girls with a 4th place overall finish and a best time of 1:03.39.  Kathryn Doyle represented the 14 year olds locking in a 5th place seed in finals.  Roger Brown represented the 11 year old boys 3rd place overall finish and a best time of 1:07.25.  Zach Yakubik had the stand out 100 yard backstroke swim dropping over 3 seconds for a best time of 1:16.19 and finishing 13th overall during the finals session.  Teammate Matthew Cullen also raced to a best time of 1:16.86 and finished 9th overall during the finals.  Great job, Beach Cities!

Alex Crisera represented Beach Cities in the 100 IM placing 5th overall in finals and Kai Scarlet finished 5th overall.  Alex also raced to a best time of 57.74 in the 100 free time trial, dropping 3 seconds.  Great job, Alex!!

The girls 13-14 200 yard freestyle relay raced proudly to a best time of 1:47.08 dropping over 2 seconds.  Great swimming Jennie Bao, Shannon O’Brien, Mary Taylor, and Kathryn Doyle.  The 200 yard medley relay featured Kathryn Doyle, Sophie Kuehler, Nikki Cooper, and Jennie Bao.  Great job to both relays for dropping time.  

Beach Cities Swimming is very proud of all participants that earned JO qualifying times and raced hard to achieve new time cuts and final placings.  We brought more swimmers to JO’s this year than the team has ever brought.
