Pacific Committee Finale Recap (March 4, 2023)
Pacific Committee Finale @ San Fernando (March 4, 2023)
Beach Cities was well represented in San Fernando with 74 swimmers competing at the Short Course Finale. Of those 74, 15 Pre-Comp swimmers from Marlins and Intro to Senior made their debut and showed the Pacific Committee that they are a force to be reckoned with. The chilly weather continued into this meet but that did not stop anyone from adapting and swimming absolutely lights out in their individual events and relays. What a great way to end the short course season and set ourselves up for a fantastic long course season. Go Beach Cities!
Beach 1
Isabella Antunes (9-10 Girls)
Miss Antunes blazed to three best times in her four individual races, smashing her previous bests in the 50 Back (-3.02) and 50 Breast (-2.42). Her 50 Back swim earned her a spot on the podium (3rd place), as did her anchor legs on two victorious relays (200 Medley/Free). Way to go, Isabella!
Sienna Chen (11-12 Girls)
Miss Chen raced in four individual events and two relays, with her highest individual finish being 12 place in the 50 Fly with a time of 42.11 (-0.55). She also bagged a new best time in the 100 Free (-1.44) and contributed to 3rd and 4th place finishes for her relay teams. Great swims, Sienna!
Fiona Cooley (9-10 Girls)
Miss Cooley had another successful outing, dropping a best time in the 100 Free (-0.52) and racing two other events for the first time (50 Fly, 50 Free). Unfortunately, a bogus DQ call negated a really nice 50 Back, but her other three races were top 8 scoring efforts, with her best finish at 4th place in the 50 Free. She also cranked out some solid splits as a member of the victorious 200 Medley and 200 Free Relays. Congratulations, Fiona!
Devin Davis (11-12 Boys)
Mr. Davis was better than his previous best self in two of his four events: 50 Back (-8.20!) and 50 Free (-0.94), with his best finish coming in the 50 back (18th). Monster swims, Devin!
Gavin Ferrer (11-12 Boys)
Mr. Ferrer raced very well in his first official swim meet, zooming to three finishes, including a scoring effort in the 50 Fly (16th place). Kudos, Gavin!
Max Goldstein (11-12 Boys)
Mr. Goldstein demonstrated World Class Character by stepping up to fill in for some missing teammates on relays, without hesitation. In his individual races, he dropped a new best time in the 50 Free (-3.93) and raced the 100 IM and 50 Fly for the first time. Great effort, Max!
Tyson Imai (8&Under Boys)
Mr. Imai represented as the lone 8&Under in the group, posting wins in the 25 Back, 25 Fly and 50 Free and finishing 2nd in the 25 Breast. Keep it up, Tyson!
Kavya Kachhadia (9-10 Girls)
Miss Kachhadia also showed World Class Character by filling in some relay gaps on the victorious 200 Medley and 200 Free Relays. Her 100 IM (1st place!) was a new best time by more than 2 seconds. She was also the winner of the 50 Fly, cutting nearly 4 seconds off her previous best. Well done, Kavya!
Sohum Kulkarni (9-10 Boys)
Though Mr. Kulkarni was victorious in the 50 Breast, his best swim of the weekend came in the 50 Fly (-2.29), which was good enough for 9th place in the event. Solid racing, Sohum!
Kavi Matthews (11-12 Boys)
Mr. Matthews raced four times individually, with his best finish coming in the 100 IM (19th), which was his first time competing in the event. He also raced the 50 Breast for the first time and represented on two relays. Well done, Kavi!
Bridget Sullivan (11-12 Girls)
Miss Sullivan absolutely crushed her 100 Free, cutting nearly 7 seconds off her previous best, in her standout swim of the meet. Her best individual finish was 20th in the 50 Fly. Great showing, Bridget!
Amari Tullo (11-12 Girls)
Miss A. Tullo had a strong 100 Free, dropping almost a full second to take 27th place in the event, but her best finish came in the 100 IM (24th). She also represented the team on the 3rd place 200 Free Relay and 4th place 200 Medley Relay. Awesome job, Amari!
Kenya Tullo (11-12 Girls)
Miss K. Tullo cut nearly a second off her 50 Breast time to place 33rd. She also had a solid 100 Free, taking 20th place, which was her best individual finish, and represented the team on the 2nd place 200 Free Relay. Way to go, Kenya!
Elise Wang (11-12 Girls)
Miss Wang raced the 100 IM and the 50 Fly for the first time ever and scored in the 50 Breast with her 16th place finish. Her 100 Free was also outstanding, with more than a 4 second drop. Great work, Elise!
Beach 2
Beach 2 had another strong presence at a championship meet with 10 swimmers competing at Pacific Committee Finale in San Fernando. A strong and positive group, they helped the team show everyone else what Beach Cities means. Great job all!
Alysha Annamalai (9-10 Girls)
Alysha had another full line-up (4 individual + 2 relays) and showed everyone there that she meant business. She placed no lower than 3rd on her individual events and also helped her Freestyle and Medley relay teams to 1st place finishes. She also set a personal best in her 50 Back (-1.89). Congrats on a great short course season, Alysha!

Tori Jyo (11-12 Girls)
Tori helped her 200 Medley Relay team to a 4th place finish with a fantastic freestyle leg. Unfortunately, her racing ended after the relay but that didn’t stop her from putting everyone else on notice. I see a great long course season coming for you, Tori!
Madison Manalo-Pavach (11-12 Girls)
Another Beach 2 swimmer with a full line-up (4 individual + 2 relays), she set a personal best in her 50 Back (-1.34) and helped her 200 Freestyle Relay to an amazing 2nd place finish. Great job and onto the long course season, Madison!
Lily Sutherlin (11-12 Girls)
Lily swam the 50s of all four strokes: Fly, Back, Breast, and Free and got herself a top 10 finish in the 50 Breast (9th overall). She helped the team out by stepping in to swim the anchor leg of the 200 Freestyle relay and placed 3rd overall. Great job, Lily!
Luca Boots (11-12 Boys)
Luca rejoined the racing scene and had himself a meet. He set personal bests in three of his individual events: 50 Breast (-3.22, 7th), 50 Free (-5.86, 8th), and 100 IM (-5.33, 9th) while also swimming the 50 Fly (8th) for the first time. All of the hard work is paying off, Luca!
Theo Haubner (11-12 Boys)
Theo had a fantastic meet where he set personal bests in the 100 Free (-1.04) and the 100 IM (-2.87, 10th). In his 50 Breast, he swam his way to 4th place overall! In addition to his individuals, he swam in the winning 200 Free Relay and the 2nd place 200 Medley Relay. Have yourself a meet, Theo!
Colin Ionescu-Macri (11-12 Boys)
Colin also had a fantastic meet where he dropped time across all of his individual events: 100 Free (-3.13), 50 Fly (-0.34), 50 Free (-0.21), and 100 IM (-0.88). He also teamed up with Theo and Sebastian to a first place finish in the 200 Medley Relay and 2nd place finish in the 200 Free Relay. Way to go, Colin!
Sebastian Martinez (11-12 Boys)

He placed no lower than 4th and set a personal best in the 50 Free (a whopping -14.96, 3rd) while swimming the 100 Free (4th), 50 Fly (3rd), and 50 Breast (3rd) for the first time. He continued his hot streak with a first place finish in the 200 Medley Relay and a 2nd place finish in the 200 Free Relay with Colin and Theo. Let’s go, Sebastian!

Darei had a great meet as he set personal bests in three of his events: 100 Free (-1.71), 50 Free (-1.83), and 100 IM (-2.25). You are a hard worker and it is paying off, Darei! I am very excited for your long course season!
Beach 3
Piper Sootkoos was the lone wolf representing the group at this meet. She swam her heart out this weekend after coming off of a 100% best times effort at the polar extravaganza (aka Pac Comm Champs). Piper was in good spirits and by all accounts being a great teammate and cheerleader (as she always is).
Way to go Piper, I am looking forward to you racing the LC season :).
Beach 4
Tara Biggs
Opening up with the medley relay this meet Tara swam the breaststroke leg keeping the race really tight and close with the other teams. She then went on to drop times in the 200 Free 100 Breast placing 9th overall and the 100 free finally closing out the meet with a fast 200 Free relay.
Avery Ehrmann
Unfortunately Avery’s first swim of the day was a relay that was DQ’d however this nor the weather nor the cold stopped Avery from smiling and having a good time. She went on to drop big times in the 100 Free, 50 Back, 50 Breast (placing 2nd in the entire meet) and top 10 in the 100 IM, her 200 Free relay then went on to take 2nd place to close out the meet.
Mykah Gibson
Mykah dropped several seconds in the 100 Free as well as raced on two A team relays, the 200 Freestyle relay giving the team a second place in the meet. A great anchor job on her part!
Emma Hurlburt
With a big race in the 200 Medley relay and time drop in her 100 Backstroke Emma had a wonderful meet despite the chilling effects of the rain. Her other races were on par with her previous bests.
Jonathan Kipp
The Boys 11-12 Medley relay Jonathan opened up in finaled in first place! Jonathan went on to place top 5 in the 50 Back and a 2nd place finish in the 200 Freestyle relay he anchored.
Percy McGuinn
Placing 3rd in the finale of the 200 Medley relay Percy took off for the starting leg with a great swim and a 5th place overall in the 200 free relay. Her individual times were close to her best times.
Katie Traylen
Katies 200 Freestyle opened up top 10 with a huge drop in time from her previous best, same with her 100 back. Katie then went on to make top 8 in the 100 Breast going a slight add off her best time and finally in the 100 Free a 3 second drop. The 200 Free relay closed out the meet in second place, Katie earning a spot on the A relay.
Gregory Willis
Greg had a string of bad luck at this meet with a few DQ’s but that didn't stop him from keeping his positivity and good competitive spirit up the whole meet. All of his individual events were at the same time as his previous best.

Marlin A & B
We had a lot Marlins attend their first swim meet and they knocked it out of the park! It's really great to see so many pre-comp athletes demonstrate that they are ready for the big leagues.
Makena Kam
Makena is our youngest athlete in Marlins and had a lot of big swims! She managed to grab two duckies at Finale in the 25 Fly and 25 Back. Makena is showing a lot of promise so young. We are all waiting to see what she will do at the next meet.
Addison Shamban
Addy had a great meet, swimming a stellar 50 Fly and 100 I.M. She has been improving in Breaststroke and is starting to become a well rounded swimmer. Way to go Addy!
Madeline Braceros
Maddy had a lot of great races at Finale. Her most impressive was her 50 Fly. She showed great technique and even got some complement from coaches on other teams. Keep doing what you're doing Maddy, it's working.
Cateleya Bustamante
Cateleya is our newest addition to the team and she hit the ground running. She is a very strong swimmer that got 2 duckies at her first meet. One of those was in the 100 I.M. We can't wait to see what she will accomplish when she starts to get her turns down.
Hannah King
This was Hannah's first meet after joining the team from Summer Squad. She showed a lot of potential in the 50 Breast. This athlete knows how to grab a lot of water! She's going to be stellar when she reaches a competitive level of swimming.
Mackenzie McElroy
Mackenzie is another one of our really young athletes who showed how strong you can be at such a young age. She's only 8 years and is already competing with the 9-10 year olds. Mackenzie is one to watch out for!
Angelo Calungcagin
Angelo swam really well in all 4 of his races. He also showed us that he has an eye for detail. It's great to see what he can do at a swim meet. Angelo looked like he was in his element at Finale.
Ryson Tomongin
Ryson is a super strong athlete that loves to go fast. He showed everyone how fast he can really go at Finale. It's great to see so much enthusiasm from a young athlete.
Harper Ward
Harper is one of the athletes I have recently started working with in Marlin B and she really surprised everyone with how prepared she was on race day. I am excited to continue working with her in the future.
Vivian Ostrick
Vivian showed us how consistent she can be from practice to swim meets. I hope her consistency will yield her the results that she is looking for. Keep up the hard work Vivian!

Senior 2
Tyler Chan
Having been out of the pool sick for quite some time Tyler came back to the pool with some ready to race mentality. Opening up with 2nd place in the 200 Medley relay, and in the 200 Freestyle relay. The individual times were just under best times, but considering the circumstances health wise, great swims.
Joaquin Escarcega
Joaquin opened the meet with a 12 second drop in his 100 Fly time having taken lots of time in practice to develop a smoother stroke and better conditioning to tackle the race. Finally to close out the meet his 200 Freestyle relay took second place!
Lucas Hott
Finaling in the 200 Freestyle in top 10 Lucas started off the meet strong continuing to drop time in the 100 Fly and the 100 Breast. CITI closed out the 13& over boys 200 Free relay in 3rd place Lucas started for.
Kellen Kao
His debut race for Beach Cities Kellen placed 1st overall in the 100 free 11-12 age group, as well as in the 50 breast, 50 free and 100 IM. Great way to show up for a meet and take home the wins!
Justin King
Placing 4th overall in the 100 Back, Justin dropped significant time to take that spot. The same with the 100 Breast! Matching his best time Justin placed top 8 in the 100 free and once again 4th in the 200 IM. CITI with Justin on it went to final 2nd in the 200 Free relay.
Devon Olson
Devon’s 100 Breast was a great contrast to the unfortunate false start DQ from the 200 medley relay, dropping 5 seconds from his previous best and a top 10 finish overall. Then Devon went on to drop 10 seconds in the 200 IM which once again placed him top 10 overall. Great swims and recovery from the difficult start of the meet. Proof that keeping your cool during DQ’s pays off.
Asher Rexing
Swimming his first meet for Beach Cities, Asher dropped big chunks of time for the 100 Back, 100 Breast (13 seconds) and 100 Free. Great Swims all the way around and incredible drive to race and compete.
Joseph Scallon
With top attendance in his group and his impeccable ability to understand the drills and swims during practice it's no surprise that Joseph dropped considerable time in all of his events. Placing top 8 in his 200 Free, 6th in his 100 Fly and 3rd in the 200 freestyle relay.
