2024 Spring Sectionals Meet Recap!

Justin Max

February 29th-March 3rd BCS sent 23 athletes, 3 coaches, and 3 chaperones to the Speedo Sectionals Championships down in Carlsbad.  This was a “team travel” trip for us, so we loaded up the vans and we drove down together as a team, we ate our meals together as a team, and we raced together as a team.

A HUGE thank you goes out to Robyn Arnold, Aki Gooden, and Mel Kuo for serving as our parent chaperones and taking amazing care of all our athletes and coaches all meet long!

Team travel meets are always tricky, because sometimes the travel can end up being distracting and detract from your meet performance, but our athletes did a fantastic job of having fun AND staying focused on the job at hand.

After claiming first place in the “Small” team division at the December Sectionals meet, we were moved up to the “Medium” team division this time around, which means we were competing against bigger teams with more athletes competing, and we were still able to finish in 2nd place as a team with 369.5 points!  Our girls team also placed 3rd overall across all teams, and we broke 7 BCS Team Records in route to 70 new lifetime best swims!

All told, it was a great meet for BCS and a great way for our Senior athletes to wrap up that leg of their season.

Good luck to all our 14&Under athletes and coaches heading out to Pasadena this weekend for the Spring Age Group Championships-Go BCS!
