La Mirada Armada Summer Swim Team

WHAT IS THE SUMMER SWIM TEAM AND WHO IS IT FOR?

The Summer Swim Team is a 7 week summer recreational team that teaches swimmers ages 6-16 years old the four competitive strokes and racing strategies. Proper stroke technique is emphasized and an introduction to swim meet competition will be taught. Swimmers will learn and compete in a fun, relaxed environment to encourage and build confidence. This is a great opportunity for your swimmer to get their feet wet and introduce them to a competitive swim program. Many swimmers that participate in the summer program join the year round team after the completion of the summer because they enjoy the sport, their friends, and the program. Hope to see you at the pool this summer.

Tryouts and Registration are scheduled for Saturday, May 25th at 10:30AM at the Splash Aquatic Center.

Participants will be required to swim 25 yards (1 length across the pool) unassisted. Swimmers of all levels, beginner to advanced, are welcome.

The registration forms will be handed out at the time of tryouts to be filled out and given back to us that same day. If you would like to pickup the registration forms to fill out ahead of time, please visit us at the Armada office at Splash monday through friday between 4pm and 6pm.

Practice Schedule: Monday thru Thursday 3PM - 4PM. Swimmers are allowed to come to the Monday through Friday 1:00PM-3:00PM recreational swim offered by the facility for free during the summer if they are a member of the summer team.

Groups are determined by an individual’s capability and age at the tryout time.

Cost: $280.00 per person due at tryouts. Checks payable to La Mirada Armada. The cost includes coach instruction, team cap, team shirt, and USA Swimming flex registration.

Unable to attend tryouts on May 25th? Contact us at [email protected] to arrange an alternate tryout date.

What do I need? You will need to bring a proper fitting one piece swim suit for girls, and swim trunks or briefs for the guys. You will need a pair of swim goggles to use daily at each practice. Girls will need a swim cap for each practice (your own or the one we provide for you). It’s important to maintain hydration, so a bottle of water or sports drink each day is highly encouraged. Lastly, a towel to dry off after each practice is always a great idea! Some of the items will be available for purchase at our office or the facility swim store
