Coaching Staff
Paul Lau Head Coach

Paul Lau, NCCP level 3 coach with over 15 years of coaching experience from novice to national level athletes; has coached with Champion Swimming, Richmond Hill Aquatic Club, and J-Dolphins.  Since the inception with Aurora Ducks Swimming in 2018, Paul has already generated 2 national medalists, 2 senior trials swimmers, over 10 new national swimmers, over 30 new provincial swimmers for the club.  With Paul's leadership, over 60 club records were broken.  Paul was a former competitive swimmer and an elite track and field athlete where he was a former provincial champion, competed at national levels and was selected to the Canadian Track & Field Junior Team.  Paul holds an engineering degree from University of Toronto and is the owner and Head Coach of Champion Swimming.

Weiyi Zhang Comp Coach

Wayne is a NCCP certrified coach and has completed the Bachelors and Masters degree in Education; and started coaching swimmers since 2007.  He has coached for 6 years at Markham Aquatic Club, 1 year at Richmond Hill Aquatic Club and he has previously coached 1 year at Aurora Ducks Swimming Club.

In the past, he coached many swimmers that have broken provincial and club records and ranked Top 10 in Canada for their age category.  Wayne believes that winning is more than simply a swimmers' position in a race.  He considers that his responsibility as a coach is to create and environment for swimmers to reach their highest personal potential as both people and athletes.  His objective is to devise cutting-edge skill training, provide coaching and support to ensure that athletes develop valuable sporting skills and principles.

Christopher McLelland Comp Coach

Chris started swimming at the age of 11 with the Aurora Ducks.  During his time as a swimmer, he was able to medal at both regional and provincial levels.  Chris was also ranked in the top 50 in the 50m, 100m and 200m Freestyle and Butterfly across all of Ontario and Canada for his age group.  Chris is a NCCP certified Coach and has been coaching with the Aurora Ducks since 2016.  He is also a certified Lifeguard with CPR and First-aid training.  Chris would like to see his swimmers improve to a level they can be proud of and have fun while getting there.

Nicole Lau Assistant Coach

Nicole has 8+ year of competitive swimming experience. Nicole is a national level medalist and has represented DUCKS at the Canadian Swimming Trials.  She is currently training in the Elite group.  Nicole is NCCP certified and has been coaching with DUCKS and instructing with Champion Swimming for more than 3 years. She has plenty of experience and knowlege regarding swim/dryland technique and swimmer development.

Isabella Colalillo Assistant Coach

Isabella has represented the Aurora DUCKS for over 10 years of her competitive swimming career. Throughout her last 4 years as an Elite competitive swimmer, Isabella was an instructor at Champion Swimming while also obtaining her NCCP certification. Isabella is presently pursuing a Bachelor of Science at the University of Toronto while continuing to coach with the DUCKS. Isabella believes in pushing athletes outside of their comfort zone while achieving overall health and wellness through competitive sport.
