The Killarney Swim Club was in action at the AB Provincial Trials in Edmonton.  The meet attracted 500 swimmers from Alberta and BC.  KSC was represented by a contingent of 36 swimmers.  This meet was the last chance for swimmers to qualify for this week’s AB Championships.  Swimmers could qualify by winning an event or making 2 Championship time standards.

Killarney swimmers performed remarkably well.  The team posted 161 best times on route to 14 medals including 8 gold.  Four Killarney swimmers were added to the Championship meet list.  Winning events were Alana Caragea (100 BR, 200 IM, 200 BR), Sophia Shpak (200 BR, 50 BR), Siena Stangherlin (50 FR, 100 FR), and Matthew Thompson (100 FR).

10-year-old Shpak also broke a club record in the 200 BR.  She erased Kim Song from the record book by over a second.

Also making it to the podium were: Mikaela Kirchmayer (200 BR 3rd), Posie Payette (200 FR 2nd), Kamryn Rideout (100 IM 3rd), Shaela Rideout (50 Fly 3rd), Sophia Shapk (100 BR 3rd), Siena Stangherlin (200 FR 3rd).

The team is now set with 34 swimmers ready to compete at the Championships here at MNP.
