Killarney Finishes 3rd Overall at AB Championships

Last weekend the AB Championships were held at the MNP Sports Center.  The meet attracted 500 swimmers from Alberta and BC.  Killarney had a contingent of 34 swimmers at the competition.

The team had an excellent showing.  Killarney finished 3rd in team scoring behind University of Calgary Swim Club and Edmonton Keyano.   Swimmers posted 187 individual best times on route to 40 provincial medals including 11 event winners.  Six club records were set in the individual and relay events.  Alan Piatek took the 14-15 Male Point Aggregate Award.

Gold: Molly Fleming (800 FR), Matea Gigovic (50FL, 100 FR, 100 FL), Alan Piatek (100 Bk, 100 FL), Evelyn Washbrook (100 FR), Soren Young (200 BR) & 14-15 Medley Relay (Ali Kardas, Soren Young, Aland Piatek, Pablo Zendejas)

Other Medal Winners (not mentioned above): Lucas Fursier, Sophie Holowaychuk, Nicole L’Heureux, Balazs Moldovan, Jasper Ngo, Michael Woo, 12 & Girls Under Free Relay and Medley Relay, 13 & Boys Under Free Relay and Medley Relay, 14-15 Boys Free Relay, 15 & Over Girls Medley Relay.

Club Records: 11-12 Free Relay, Senior Female 400 Free Relay, 17 & Under Male Medley Relay, Sophia Shpak (100 BR & 200 BR 10 & Under Girls), Nicole L’Heureux (800 FR & 400 IM 13-14 Girls), Kyle Kidd (50 BR 13-14 Girls), Ali Kardas (50 BK 13-14 Boys).
