The Swim BC Provincial Championships took place this past weekend from March 7-10 at the Saanich Commonwealth Place on Vancouver Island. As the name suggests, this competition is the largest in the province, bringing together over 600 swimmers from 38 teams. LOSC brought a team of 78 swimmers, massively taking the team score lead after every evening of racing. Congratulations to National Group swimmer Oleh Kameka for being February's Swimmer of the Month! Oleh was awarded this title for his outstanding attendance. Keep up the great work Oleh! February 28th is Pink Shirt Day, an annual event against bullying. Swimmers wore pink at school and Coaches wore pink to coach on this important day to raise awareness for anti-bullying. LOSC has zero tolerance for bullying, and encourages members to learn more about what this can look like in schools, online and other spaces.

The Swim BC Fraser & Vancouver Divisional Championships was held at the Surrey Sports & Leisure Complex this past weekend from February 23-25, hosted by the Surrey Knights Swim Club. In attendance were nearly 400 swimmers from 12 clubs, with competition starting early on Friday and ending late on Sunday. LOSC brought a team of 95 talented swimmers, racing in both individual and relay events. From February 2-18, the World Aquatics Championships took place in Doha, Qatar. Each year, this competition features the top talent in the world, so Collyn faced against some tough competition. Prior to racing, he and the rest of Team Canada underwent a Training Camp to prepare them for the world stage. This weekend, Ken Stroud and Fernando Lu are headed to Richmond to take part in the Para Prospects Camp West. The boys are going to learn and experience a great deal from this opportunity with the help and support of many amazing coaches and practitioners. Congratulations to Danny Park for oblitering the 800 Freestyle Senior Trials cut by over 9 seconds! This means he is qualified to race at the Canadian Swimming Trials, where the Canadian team is chosen for subsequent international competitions. Swim BC released their first ever Peformance Report for results from September to December 2023. The club rankings (as seen in the photo) are based on World Aquatics points, while the rankings found here list Top 25 Provincially and Top 10 Nationally ranked swimmers for each event and category. This past weekend we had a wide range of swimmers race at meets in Maple Ridge and Surrey. The excitement that the young swimmers experienced at the Titans Medley Add-up in Maple Ridge was shared by all the spectating parents, teammates and coaches.
