CONGRATULATIONS COACH SZILVIE - IT'S ABOUT TIME AND PATIENCE

General Manager
Swim Manitoba recently announced the appointment of Coach Szilvie Carrière as Head Coach of the Manitoba Swim Team, 2021 Canada Games to be held in the Niagara region from August 6th-12th, 2021.

Coach Szilvie’s love of swimming began in Hungary, a nation always capable of developing competent international swim athletes. Szilvie was amongst them on the Hungarian National Swim Team meanwhile earning a teaching degree in sport. Immigrating to Canada, she immersed herself in the sport teaching novice swimmers. Recognizing Szilvie’s ability, she was encouraged to coach performance level athletes and continue her coaching education to become a certified NCCP Level 3 Coach.

Focusing on care of the complete individual and developing a « Can Do » culture, Coach Szilvie has bided her time and showed patience for many years, having prepared age group swimmers to be significantly competitive at National Swim Meets. As well, every four years, since 2005, Szilvie has successfully coached swimmers at the Canada Summer Games. Perhaps her proudest moments were at the recent 2017 Canada Summer Games held in her home town, Winnipeg where swimmers directly under her coaching made finals and medaled. As Co-Head Coach for the 2019 Western Canada Summer Games Swim Team, she became quite familiar with candidate 2021 Canada Summer Games swimmers which will provide the continuity necessary for next success.

The plan is to identify potential Manitoba CSG swim athletes over three stages; a large group in Spring 2020, a reduced number in Fall 2020 and finally a select squad in Winter 2021. The selection criteria for the CSG 21 Swim Team may be found at: https://www.swimmanitoba.mb.ca/canada-games

Congratulations Coach Szilvie!
