April 11, 2023 Winnipeg Manta sisters Mia (16) and Halle (14) West have qualified to swim for Canada at the upcoming World Junior Championships this fall in Netanya Israel. Both girls qualified based off their performances at the Canadian Swimming Trials earlier in March. Mia West swum to three provincial age group records (15-17) in the 200 IM 200 Free and 100 Fly in order to wear the Maple Leaf for the second time. January 24, 2023 Winnipeg Halle West (14) has broken one of the oldest Canadian Age Group records. West was competing at the Manitoba Marlins New Year’s Invitational January 14th and 15th when she swam a blistering 1:08.09 in the 100m breaststroke. This eclipsed the old record of 1:08.64 set back in 1988 by Olympian Allison Higson. West also lowered her on Provincial record in the 50m breaststroke and tied the Provincial record in the 200m freestyle! Manta finished off last year’s season in fine style with medal performances at Canada Games by Manta swimmers Mia West Eric Dupre and Halle West. We are proud to announce that MEGAN JAMES will become a 2022 New Mexico State Aggies! Our very own Manta swimmer gave her verbal commitment to New Mexico State Swim and Dive team (D1), where she was offered a full scholarship. New Mexico State University’s head coach, Rick Pratt, is looking forward to working with Megan who, in few weeks, will be travelling to Toronto with Head Coach Tommaso to compete at the 2021 Olympic Trials.
