ANJA KRUEGER COMMITS TO THE UBC THUNDERBIRDS

General Manager

Manta swimmer Anja Krueger has committed to joining the UBC Thunderbirds Varsity Swim Team for the 2021 season!

Anja will be joining Canada’s premier varsity swim program that boasts the 24-time national champion women's team and the 18-time national champion men's team. The UBC swimming program has produced over 40 Olympians, and the current roster includes past and potential future Olympians; she is eager to continue her own swimming journey by training with her new teammates and learning from them.

Anja had set her sights on university opportunities with excellence in both swimming and academics, so in choosing UBC, she has met both of those objectives. Academic opportunities played an important part for Anja, and she is eagerly looking forward to pursuing her desired course of studies in the sciences at the beautiful UBC campus.

Anja is looking forward to UBC’s top-tier coaching and the chance to train in one of Canada’s newest and most beautiful aquatic centres, as well as the world-class education she’ll receive from a university that is ranked top 35 in the world. She’s confident that she’s made an excellent choice.

“UBC was one of my top choices from the start, and I’m so very happy that it turned out that we are a great fit for each other. Despite all the recruitment complications this past year, Coach Schoof was a steady and engaging influence; his balanced philosophy on athletics and academics really resonated with me.”

Anja wishes to extend a warm thank you to all of her past and present coaches, the Manta Swim Club organization, and especially her friends on the team.
