Dr. Shauna Devine, Ph.D

Dr. Shauna Devine, Ph.D, NCCP level three swim coach + three level four/five components completed. Head Coach of Torch Swimming from 1995-2000 where she produced many swimmers at the Provincial, National and International levels, including national medalists. Devine also placed swimmers on the World Cup Tour, 2000 World Championships Team in Athens where she was named as coach and Jr Pan Pacs in Australia where she was also named as coach. She coached at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney Australia. She is founder and co-owner of Olympian Swimming--one of the largest swim schools in the country. Dr. Devine holds a PhD in medical science and medical history from Western University and she holds a joint appointment as an Associate Research Professor in the Department of History and Assistant Professor in the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, Western University. She is an award winning author and has published numerous articles, book chapters and an award winning monograph.
We are thrilled that in 2023 she resumed her role as Head Coach of Torch swimming. Shauna Devine coaches our Elite Performance athletes and directs all practice sessions and seasonal planning for the full team.


Gary Nolden is the Owner and CEO of Olympian Swimming a chain of swim schools founded in 1993. He also serves as Assistant Coach and Head dryland coordinator for our High Performance athletes. His motto is simple-- provide the best possible swimming environment for both the coach and athlete to ensure that through excellence in programming, all coaches and athletes will reach their full potential in the sport of swimming. Gary has a long record of success working with athletes from the provincial to national levels.


Joshua Liao has been a member of the Olympian Swimming family for more than 2 decades. He began swimming in our learn to swim program, followed by almost ten years as a TORCH Swimmer competing at the Junior National Level. Currently Joshua continues in his dual role as TORCH's Lead Assistant Coach and Senior Manager within the Olympian Swimming organization. We are thrilled to have him as a valued part of our team!

Yaseen Khan Yaseen Khan has been a coach for three years. Previously competing at the provincial level. After a decade with TORCH, he has gained valuable insights into the sport and is excited to continue coaching and helping swimmers achieve their goals.
Yaseen is also a certified personal trainer and believes that dryland training is a crucial component of swimming. Currently, he studies psychology at Toronto Metropolitan University. When not coaching, he enjoys reading, cycling, and running.
