Swim Officials:
How our members support the world of competitive swimming.
Almost 100% of swim officials that you will see at a swim meet are there as volunteers. Every session of a meet requires around 40 of these volunteers to ensure a safe, fair and competitive environment for our swimmers. Below you will find information of the various roles that these volunteer officials undertake, as well links to Swim Ontario and Swim Canada officiating information.
The Wilmot Aces host four swim meets each season: two single session meets and two multiple day meets. These meets require us to provide trained officials at the following positions each session:
- Timer - 16
- Chief Timekeeper - 1/2
- Safety Marshal - 2
- Inspector of Turns - 8
- Stroke Judge - 2
- Administrative Desk - 1
- Admin Desk Assistant (Heat Marshal) - 1/2
- Starter - 1
- Chief Recorder - 1
- Timing System Operator - 1
- Meet Manager - 1
- Referee - 1
- Competition Coordinator - 1
Details of each position can be found on Swim Ontario's website.

WAAC officials are encouraged and supported to 'move up the officiating ladder'. Every club requires the right mix of trained officials in order to host meets. Clubs also require at least one Level 4 or 5 official to serve as the competition coordinator. When we all upskill, we improve the quality of the competitive environment provided to our swimmers.
For details on the Family Participation Commitment required by the Wilmot Aquatic Aces Club, please refer to our Handbook or the Officials Page in the member area of our site.
